I swallowed hard because in reality I wanted nothing more than for Henry to return.

I thought I saw a figure moving in the distance.

I blinked a few times to make sure my mind wasn’t messing with me.

Nope.

There he was again.

Holding two beer bottles with one hand.

“Fuck,” I whispered to myself.

Henry was dangerous for me.

I never admitted that before.

I had a big project to work on. A project I just landed. The start of what I wanted to be my successful career. A career that I was going to build all on my own. From the ground up.

And here walked Henry, closer by the second.

My teeth chattered even though it wasn’t cold out at all.

“Hope this works for you, honey,” he said as he extended his right arm.

Oh, that’s another thing.

This whole ‘honey’ thing.

Fuck.

“Open it for me,” I said to him.

“Hold tight,” he whispered.

He grabbed the top of the beer bottle and twisted.

The pffft sound felt as loud as a firecracker going off.

He did the same to his bottle.

“Cheers to you, Sage,” he said. “To your new project. To your career. I will admit, I’m surprised you aren’t ruling the entire town yet.”

I smiled. “Thanks, Henry. Cheers to you too. For your hockey career.”

“Getting there,” he said.

“I should have you autograph something tonight. Because when you’re famous, I can then sell it and make a lot of money.”

“That’s not a bad idea. Do you have a marker?”

“Oh, yeah. I carry markers with me all the time. You never know when you’ll meet a famous person.”

“I’m not famous, Sage.”

“To me you are.”

Fuck.
