His face. Jawline.

Even his ear for some reason.

My body tenderly ached.

“I don’t see a thing,” he said. “At least I don’t think so.”

I pointed. “Right over the tops of the tree you can make out the roof to a building…”

He looked again, starting to smile.

Then he saw it.

“I got it,” he said. “Wow. How about that…”

“Nothing is there now,” I said. “Rumors keep popping up about someone buying the building and parking lot and putting in some stores.”

Henry nodded and slowly looked at me.

I looked at him.

I knew the both of us were thinking about that parking lot.

I didn’t necessarily become a woman that night in that parking lot with Henry…

… but he damn sure left me lingering wanting more for a long time…

Chapter Seven

HENRY

Way… Way… Back…

I took one last shot and buried it into the back of the net.

My body felt tired and I looked at Leon, ready to pass out.

“Nice job, boy,” he said. “Get some water and a granola bar. Then you’re off to the gym. Right?”

What I wanted to say was, Are you fucking insane, old man?

What I said?

“Of course I’m going to the gym,” I said.

“Good. I’m leaving. Lock up behind you. Don’t fuck that up.”

Leon gave his annoying wave and left me alone.

I walked off the ice and got changed.

I chugged a bottle of water, ate two granola bars, and then refilled the water bottle at the fountain.

The thought of going to the gym made me want to cry.

Like physically break down and start to weep.

Leon told me that was a good thing to feel though.
