I hear noise inside the dorm.

I hear things opening and shutting.

I hear a slam.

I hear glass hitting the floor, shattering.

“Ward, please just open the door so we can talk,” I say.

“Sure thing, Mila,” Ward responds.

I rest my forehead against the door.

“Just let me get myself a drink first,” Ward adds.

Then he laughs.

My heart pauses for a second.

I lift my gaze and quickly start hitting the door again.

“Ward, please, no,” I say. “Don’t do anything stupid. You said you’re sober. No more drinking, that’s what you said. Remember that?”

“I guess we both suck at keeping promises, Mila!” Ward calls out. “Damn, girl, where is the good stuff in here?”

I punch the door again but it’s no use.

Ward isn’t going to unlock the door for me.

My first instinct is to grab my phone and text… Jax…

JAX PLEASE. WARD LOCKED ME OUT OF MY DORM! I THINK HES DRINKING!

I send the text.

I wait a few seconds.

He doesn’t even read it.

Jax please. I’m scared right now. Ward is in my dorm by himself. He locked me out. I don’t know what else to do here.

Still nothing from Jax.

He doesn’t read. He doesn’t respond.

I send one more text.

Jax!

Then I move to someone else.

I have no choice but to call Willow.

“Please pick up the phone,” I whisper.

She does on the second ring.

“Mila?”
