“It’s okay. Shhh, I’m not going to hurt you. I’m Spectre, and over there,” pointing towards the guys, “is Slice, Beast, and S.” I direct my attention towards Tim and ask, “Do we have anything that can unlock the cuffs?” He shrugs.

“No, doing it with bobby pins will take too long. You’ll have to shoot in the middle of their locks.”

The air is heavy with fear, and I can feel all eyes on me. Shit, we’re not going to have enough ammo if I have to do that with thirty handcuffs. With tears streaming down her face, one of the women points in the other direction of the room.

“Are the keys over there?” She nods, her whole body trembling.

“Boss, two vans are coming. Targets were eliminated in the back, but more are coming. I’d say you have 5 minutes in total before they’re here.” Ben’s voice crackles through the earpiece, filling me in on what’s happening. Damn.

“Okay, more are coming. We have 5 minutes to get you out of here. Do you think you can move?” I ask them while Tim retrieves the keys from the small cabinet. They all nod in agreement.

I glance at Shaan, asking him silently to take the blanket out from his bag to cover them once they’re free, while Tim hands me the keys without a word. We came prepared with blankets, but clothes and food will be waiting for them in the vans.

The cuffs click open one by one as we detach them from the pole, but the sound of gunshots interrupts our progress. Some women still have the cuffs around their wrists, but we don’t have time to remove all of them.

“It’s time. See them?” I gesture towards Shaan and Al, who just returned. “These men are going to get you out of here, okay? They won’t hurt you. We have several vans outside, and they will get you to safety. Are there other women somewhere?” I can’t afford to make any mistakes, so I need to be absolutely certain before I leave. Chaos is already reigning, with blood streaming everywhere.

“Y-Yes. T-They took An-nia and L-Lola this morning. W-we d-don’t know where,” says one of the women.

“Alright. We will check on that. You’re going to get out now. No matter what you hear or feel, do not look around you. Make sure you keep your focus on the men with you, understand? Do you think you can do that for me?”

They all nod at once. Al and Shaan are quick to react to my signal, and they immediately take charge of the girls. The sound of the shots reverberates through the hangar, growing louder with each passing second. I quicken my pace and swiftly try to open the door on my right. Empty like the two other ones.

“They’re all empty,” says Scott, echoing my thoughts precisely. Despite the chaos of the gunfire, I manage to hear a distinct sound that stands out from the rest.

“Here. I hear noises from here,” I say, moving further into the hangar. I try to open the door, but it doesn’t budge. It’s fucking locked. “I’m going to shoot through the door to open it. Stay back.”

The gunshot shatters the silence. As the door slowly opens, my eyes are met with the shocking sight of two women, their bodies partially exposed and smeared with blood. Damn it. This is not the time to lose your shit in front of them.

“Everything is alright. I’m Spectre. I’m going to get you out of here, but we need to move fast.” While attempting to unlock their cuffs, the deafening sound of gunfire erupts from the main room.

Tim looks over at me, “I’m going. You two, get them out of here,” he leaves before I have time to say anything.

Looking at the girls, I ask, “Can you walk, or do you need to be carried?”

“I can walk,” they say in unison.

“Good. We’re going to put our arms around your waists to support you. Is that okay?” They nod once more. I place my arm around one of them, and she flinches at my touch, not saying a word.

Shivers appear on her skin at my touch. I know they've been through hell, and I try to support her as gently as possible, limiting my contact with the little fabric she has on her. Scott and I make our way towards the exit, taking care not to cause any further harm.

“We’re going out. Is the entrance clear?” I whisper into my earpiece, trying not to draw attention.

“Aye, boss, we took care of them,” replies one of my guys.

Just as we are near the exit, a loud ‘thump’ echoes through the hallway, followed by a ‘Fucking hell.’ When I glance down, I’m horrified to see Tim’s body splayed out on the floor.

“Fuck, he’s been shot. Can you take the girls out?” I ask Scott.

“Nuh-uh, you’re not going to get yourself killed.”

“I won’t leave one of my men on the floor. Take it as an order. Get. The. Girls. Out. Of. Here,” I repeat with force.

He sighs but gives me a quick nod.

I don’t look back. Bringing my gun in front of me, I shoot two guards in my way. The bullets whizz through the air, hitting its mark straight between their eyes.

I reach out to Tim and feel the sticky warmth of his blood on my fingers. It’s then that I notice the bullet wound in his shoulder. Damn it.
