He slapped my other cheek this time. “Three!” I cried.

“You disobeyed me. You made me look weak in front of my business partners.” Smack. “You got down on your knees and sucked that dildo like it was one of their cocks for me to watch. To burn with jealousy.”

Smack.

“Is that what you wanted, niña?” He rubbed the sore, abused flesh and my eyes burned with tears.

I had no idea what was happening. My body loved what he was doing to it, but my heart refused to acknowledge whatever this was.

Fortunately, he didn’t spank me again.

“Whose dick did you imagine you were gagging on?” His lips hovered beside my ear, words whispered, but they sounded like a command.

I squeezed my eyes shut. “Kieran’s,” I lied.

A growl rumbled in his chest and then he was pressed against my back, his hard cock flush against my ass. “I should spank you again just for that,” he snarled. My pussy throbbed and my nipples ached from straining against my lacy bra. I couldn’t stop myself from arching back against him.

What the hell am I doing? I thought, even as I heard him hiss in a breath. He’s your stepdad. This is wrong.

But feeling him molded against me had my body singing in ways it never had before.

He abruptly stepped away, filling the space between us with cool air that made me shiver. My arms shook as they held me up.

“You will not contact any of them. Your body is not an item to be sold, Julietta. Least of all to any of them.”

A tear slipped out, and I brushed it away angrily.

“It’s none of your business what I do with my body,” I snapped. “If I’d wanted to, I could have climbed on to any one of their laps. It’s not like I haven’t ridden something resembling a cock before. And at least they treated me like a woman. I get that we”—I waved a hand between us—“are some weird forbidden fruit, or whatever, but you’re not my parent. I’m eighteen. I’ll fuck whoever I want, whenever I want.”

And with that, I stormed out of the house, taking my book bag with me. I didn’t care where I went, as long as it was far from him.

Chapter Twelve

JULIETTA

Two Years Ago

I waited on the curb, watching the stream of cars coming and going from the parking lot. The laughter and excited chatter from students dwindled. Above, the clouds were dark.

Sighing, I checked the time on my phone once more. Ten minutes after four. Vanessa was forty minutes late.

Again.

I tried to call her cell for the fifth time, but as always it went straight to voicemail. Scrolling through my contacts, I landed on Romero. I hesitated for a moment, knowing full well that he was at work and didn’t like to be disturbed.

I can always walk, I thought dismally. It was a long walk, and one I didn’t think I’d be forced to make today of all days.

A flare of anger lit up in my chest as I hit the call button. I steeled my spine, lifting my chin to give me extra courage in case Romero was unhappy with my calling.

“Julietta,” he answered on the second ring, a note of concern in his voice.

“Hey.” I let out a long breath. “Is my mom…on her way?”

A pause. “Did you call her?”

“Only half a dozen times,” I answered, fiddling with the button on my light cardigan.

A faint clicking sounded in the background. “I’ll be right there, don’t move.” His tone was firm, warning me not to argue. But I couldn’t help myself.
