“Talk about hard and fast.” She laughed when I finally pulled back, and she turned to face me, both of us looking down at the cum running down the inside of her thighs. “Race you to the lake to wash off?”

She took off running, but I just chuckled, following after her and wading into the water behind her.

She ducked under, coming up right in front of me and wrapping her arms around my neck. “What is this place?” she questioned as we waded through the water, her hanging off me.

“Rook used to bring us out here on rides during the summer. This was his family’s land, passed down,” I explained, holding Shay tight against me to try and keep warm in the cold water. “His sister called a few weeks ago to tell me she was going to sell it, so I asked if I could come out again before she did.”

Shay’s face fell. “That’s sad that he didn’t have any kids to pass it on to. This place is beautiful.”

I cleared my throat. “Speaking of kids.”

She giggled, reaching up and slicking my hair back from my face. “Is that what this is? A secret plan to bring me out here and woo me so it wouldn’t be as awkward to have this chat?”

“Did it work?” I teased, holding her a little tighter and swiping my nose across hers.

She smiled, though what surprised me was that it wasn’t a sad smile. “Bishop, you not wanting any more kids is not a deal breaker for me,” she explained as we bobbed in the water. “Calli’s left home, and you don’t want to start fresh with a baby. I get it.”

I guess I was pretty transparent.

My brows pinched together, not entirely convinced. I needed to be sure about this with her. I didn’t want it to become the thing that destroyed us because she felt like there was no other choice. “You sure about that?”

“I wasn’t at first. I’d never really thought of motherhood before, but wondered if maybe later I would,” she explained, licking her lips before she smiled. “Then I had that talk with Rafe at Brawlers, and it kind of made me realize that it wasn’t as if I wasn’t going to be able to do those Mom-type things. There will be a clubhouse full of Rafes and Whips and other prospects to come who haven’t had that person in their life, and I want to be able to be that for them.”

I pressed my lips to hers, our mouths frozen but heating quickly as we shared a passion-filled kiss. “You are truly an amazing woman.”

She grinned, tugging on my bottom lip with her teeth. “I try my best.”

“You’ll tell me, though? If you ever start to feel differently?”

Her smile softened, and she nodded. “You will be the first to know,” she promised just as her teeth began to chatter. “You think we should get out now?”

I started to carry her toward the shore. “Luckily, the cabin here has a hot shower.”

Chapter Thirty-Two

SHAY

“Wow, that thing doesn’t look so great,” I noted, stepping into the clubhouse’s garage where Hawk was fiddling with what looked like a rusty old Harley, complete with cobwebs still attached. “You going to ride that?”

He smirked. “We call them projects.”

“Mm-hmm,” I hummed, smothering a smile. “And what does Missy call it?”

He pointed his wrench at me, waving it around. “Nothing yet, but I’ll let you know when I tell her later.”

I scoffed. “Good luck with that. Bishop around? He said to come here straight after work.”

That’s exactly what I’d done, even though my first instinct had been to go home and shower because I was wearing my third pair of scrubs for the day due to the number of bodily fluids I’d encountered.

“I think he’s in his office with Blue, but he mentioned there was something at the bar for you.” Hawk instantly ducked back behind the mess of a machine, his hyperfocus kicking in.

Something at the bar for me?

I pushed through the doors and into the bar and eating area.

Hopefully, it was a drink because I really needed one or fiv—

“Surprise!”
