“Yes, I am,” I confirm.

“Emma.” Barry rubs her shoulders as she stands there staring at me.

“So why are you living here?” she asks.

“I need to be sure I want to move in with him. I need it to be my choice.” She turns to Whiskey.

“And here you are annoying her, pressuring her.” She shakes her head. Whiskey says nothing, just continues to plate up the food.

“Emma.” I try to calm her down. “I’m having a baby.”

“I know,” she says, turning back to me. I watch as her eyes soften. “I’m happy for you.” Then she starts crying. “I’m more pissed he knew before me.” She points to Whiskey. I can’t help but laugh at that and pull her in for a cuddle.

“You can be the godmother.”

“Do I get a say?” Whiskey asks.

“No,” Emma and I say at the same time.

“Seems fair.” He says and pushes towards me a soup. “Try thistle, the lady swore by it on an empty stomach.”

“We will need a baby’s room,” Emma says.

“Ummm, let’s just slow down on that, for now at least.”

“Yes, let’s slow down.” Whiskey eyes me, I walk over to him and try the soup, when I don’t immediately feel sick, I continue. Standing behind me he wraps his hands around me and leans in.

“I missed you.”

And I believe him.

Two weeks go by fast, and there isn’t one night that Whiskey doesn’t stay over. He gives me space during the day, and even some nights I don’t even see him, but when I wake in the middle of the night to use the bathroom, he is asleep next to me. Crawling out of the bed I relieve myself in the bathroom before I go back to bed. Crawling in, I feel him move.

“When do you plan to come home?” he asks, pulling me into him. I go easily. “You snore less in my bed.”

“I don’t snore,” I remind him. I do, I totally do.

“It’s cute, but you snore a lot more here.” His hands wrap around me, pulling me in. “Move in with me, please,” he says into my hair. “I want my wife in my bed, at our house.” Just as he says those words, loud moaning starts. Then banging on the wall, from a bed.

“They are so noisy.”

“Well, you know what would fix that?” he asks, his hands roaming my body. I’m already naked so his fingers slide over my bare skin. “If you moved in with me.”

“I’ll think about it.” The banging gets louder, his hands roam lower and lower, I spread my legs as he slips a hand between them.

“Emma, bark.” We both freeze at those words that echo through the walls. Then start laughing. I turn around to face Whiskey, I can just make out his eyes. The way they have the perfect wrinkles around them as he stares at me.

“Does my age bother you?” I ask him, not that I think it ever has. But I want to know all the same. His last wife was closer in age to him, than me.

His hand lifts and brushes my hair from my face.

“No,” he says with no hesitation. “Does it bother you?”

“I thought it would, but then again, I never really thought much that night I saw you.” I smile at him.

“No, I guess neither of us did. It was just need.” He leans in and kisses my lips softly his hand staying on my face, when he pulls back, I do to.

“It was….” Before I can even finish my words, I feel my stomach turn, getting up and running to the bathroom the soup I had earlier comes up fast. A hand comes on my back and starts to rub, someone barks. I look up to him, and we both laugh, despite the fact that I am on my hands and knees on the bathroom floor.
