After the song ended, our audience clapped and whistled. It was the best feeling in the world to be appreciated. I loved these ladies beside me and hugged each one as they took their seats.

When I was the only one left on stage, I turned off the karaoke machine and made my way back to Saint.

“You were fucking incredible.” He handed me a glass of amber liquid. “A double shot of Crown.”

“Ah, you listened to the lyrics. Thank you.”

“I sure did.” He raised his drink, and we clink glasses. “Here’s to you, gorgeous.”

“Thank you.” I sipped my drink and forced myself not to search for Raymond. Old habits die hard, ya know?

“So, you and Ray. What’s that all about?”

“I’m not sure I know what you mean.” I did, but he didn’t know that.

“I’m not a jealous man. If you got something going on with him, and he doesn’t care if you spend time with me, I’m cool with it. But I never mess with another man’s woman.”

“I’m not his woman.” I turned around on the stool and spotted Raymond making out with the blonde. “See.” I pointed at them. Tears burned behind my eyes, but I’d never let them fall.

Saint threw back the rest of his drink. “Wanna blow this joint?”

Oh, shit! It appeared I was at a crossroads...

If I left with Saint, I would let loose. Hell, I deserved some fun of the sexual nature. I didn’t owe Raymond a damned thing, not my love or fidelity. He certainly got his rocks off regularly, with little regard for me.

If I refused Saint, Raymond would win, and I’d hate myself for letting a man, who so obviously didn’t want me, control my actions. Not in this lifetime…

“Let’s go.” I swallowed down my whiskey, hopped off the stool, and took his hand.

We left, and I didn’t check to see if Raymond saw us, but I had a feeling he had. Oh well. Sorry, not sorry…

We’d talked, cuddled, and kissed all night until we both fell asleep. It had been by far the best night of my life. Dante still had me in his arms. I didn’t recall him letting me go once.

It was like all my dreams were coming true. After years of a hurting heart and excruciating pain with my illness, I had believed I would never know true happiness.

I hiked my leg over his and reached up to kiss his chin. It felt like it might be after eight in the morning, but I couldn’t be sure. No chance would I pull away from him to grab my phone, despite wanting to know how it went at the club for Birdie and the Viking God.

“Morning, Em.” Dante kissed the top of my head and pulled me closer.

“How’d you sleep?”

“Better than I ever have. How about you?”

“A few times I woke up thinking I’d been dreaming, but nope. You are really here.”

He smiled down at me. “I am, and you can’t get rid of me.”

“I wouldn’t dream of it.” My gaze traveled down to the tented sheet. “Is that your morning wood?”

He snorted. “Yes. Does it offend you?”

“Of course not. I know this happens to dudes. Want me to take care of you?” Giving hand jobs was something I was very good at since I couldn’t go all the way with guys.

“You’re free to do as you please. I won’t stop you.”
