Santee shook his head. “He was a guest. Of course he gets more, but no one can say that your mom doesn’t love you.”

“Oh my god,” Bran said with a moan. “This is so freaking good.” He eyed the container still on the table as he took a bite of his churro.

“Think about touching that and we’re going to be wrestling on the floor,” Orion warned. “The rest is for me. Thankfully, Duncan is sharing with Izel, or I’d have even less.”

“Duncan is sharing?” One of Cormac’s brows rose. “Miracles do exist.”

Bran snickered. “Maybe I’ll stop by his room and steal the rest of what’s left after he’s fallen asleep. I really do want more.”

“I wouldn’t advise that.” Cormac grabbed a bottle of juice from the refrigerator and popped the cap, taking a drink. “When it comes to food, Duncan just might maul you, Hayden’s wrath be damned.”

“Or I’ll just go see your mom,” Bran said quickly. “That sounds like a much safer plan.”

“I’m sure she has plenty left.” Orion doubted Bran would visit his mom. He didn’t seem the type to just show up at a stranger’s house with an empty plate in his hand. Not that Paloma would turn Bran away, especially if she knew he was Orion’s friend.

“We could go later,” Santee said to Bran. “I haven’t seen Paloma in a while.”

Orion stopped chewing. He wasn’t sure if his mom would want to see Santee. She’d said she was okay with him, that she didn’t blame Santee, but she had a hell of a temper when she was pissed, and Orion didn’t want her temper aimed at his friend.

“Or I can go by there in the morning and grab some leftovers.” Orion could also check to see if Austin had made it. He wanted to visit with his cousin, anyway, to find out what was going on. Plus, he really did miss Austin, quirkiness and all.

“I have to wait until tomorrow for more?” Bran stuck his bottom lip out. “Now I really might take my chances with Duncan. Losing a finger or toe will be worth getting some more of this.”

Paloma’s cooking wasn’t worth being mauled. Bran might lose more than a finger or toe if he snuck into the bedroom and tried to swipe some food from a lethal cheetah.

“Your death.” Cormac, with his plate in hands and the juice bottle tucked under one arm, exited the kitchen but not before he winked at Orion.

“What is this?” Milly asked as she came in. Orion groaned at how many people were coming and going from the room. All he’d wanted to do was eat in peace. Was that too much to ask?

“Orion’s mom made this amazing dish for him.” Santee rolled his eyes to the back of his head, groaning. “But I don’t think he’s sharing any more than he already has. If he is, I call dibs on seconds.”

“He’s being very tight with his generosity.” Bran eyed the container again. “You look like you could take him, Milly. Get the bowl from him so we can have more.”

Orion gaped at Bran. “Did you just ask her to fight me for my food?”

“I just asked her to be quicker than you when she swipes the bowl off the table,” Bran replied. “I never said anything about her fighting you.”

“You totally did,” Santee said.

“I was misquoted.” Bran shoveled a large fork filled with paella into his mouth, chewing as he looked everywhere but at Orion.

With a sigh, Orion shoved the container toward them. “Have at it.”

It wasn’t like he couldn’t go home and get more. He’d seen how much was left when he’d filled his bowl. Orion never understood why his mom always cooked so much, but at least now there were plenty of people who would gladly scarf down her food.

Bran squealed as he grabbed the bowl, yanking it away from Santee. “He said I could have it.”

“He never said you specifically,” Santee argued.

“Share or I’m taking it back.” Orion stood, smiling at Milly before he took his plate to the sink and rinsed it off.

“I’ll take care of that for you.” Milly plucked the plate out of Orion’s hand. “It’s the least I can do for the son of my competition.”

Orion stood there frozen, unsure what to say. Was she really offended that he’d brought someone else’s cooking into her kitchen?

She laughed. “I was kidding, Orion. I do have a sense of humor.”

Orion was relieved. He’d thought that Milly was seriously threatened by his mom. “Your cooking is also amazing.”
