Sid looked her way. "Jace will call the police back soon enough."

She frowned and even that was pretty. "They are certainly determined to be disruptive."

"That they are."

She finished her chicken wings and wiped her fingers on the little wet wipe brought to their table with their meals.

The bikers rode by again, and sirens were heard following them. Chiefy let out a low bark and Grace petted her back. "It's okay girl. It's none of our business."

Chiefy's tail wagged then she laid back down.

After their meals Quinn grabbed the bill quickly. "Please let me. I would have eaten alone if not for you two being here. So, I've benefitted much more than you. Plus, Grace is helping me keep a couple of my guys busy this week."

Sid nodded. "I get the next one. Promise."

"Promise." Quinn grinned.

Jan returned and took Quinn's credit card. "What are you thinking these days about Blossom Springs and your future, Sid?"

"To be honest, it feels like I belong here. I like working at the Garage with Coop. I'm only working on the Knucklehead. And a couple small things he needed help with. But, overall, I'm not looking to leave anytime soon."

Quinn leaned forward and clapped his friend on the back. "I'm happy as hell to hear that."

Sid's smile grew as if finally saying it out loud made it permanent. When he glanced her way, she smiled brightly at him and he winked at her.

Quinn's phone rang and he stood to leave. "I hate to eat and run, but I've got to take this. Grace, I'll let Sid know about the guys and when they'll be around."

He pulled his phone to his ear..."KCC."

Sid squeezed her hand on the table. "Let me walk you and Chiefy home. Not sure what's up with the bikers, but let's play it safe."

"Okay."

Sid stood. Chiefy jumped up, tail wagging happily. Grace picked up the paper plate on the ground. Sid held his hand out to her, and her heart thumped.

He was an honest-to-goodness real, kind person. He always held the door, or her chair, or her hand. My gosh, it was the hand-holding that got her the most. She loved that he wanted to hold her hand. Her heart thumped heavily every time he reached out for her hand.

They trudged across the warm sand and Sid stopped in front of his little bungalow. "Do you want to see the inside?"

"I would actually." She looked down, "Will Chiefy be able to come inside?"

"Absolutely."

She bent down and vigorously rubbed Chiefy's fur. She'd been laying in the sand, and she didn't want it all tracked into Sid's house. Chiefy shook and Grace stepped back as sand flew in all directions.

Sid unlocked the door and pushed it open, then stepped back to allow her and Chiefy inside. What she found was a neat, tidy little place. The colors were of teals and oranges, to match the water and sun outside. They entered in the living room. The sofa was a soft teal color, low profile with bright pillows. It opened to the kitchen in the back, which was similar in style to her place. She chuckled, "I wonder if the same builder built my houses. The layout is very similar."

He laughed. "I wondered that too. In a small town it's very likely."

"It's very cute in here. I take it Jace already had this one remodeled."

"I guess he started with the one next door, then a fella named Tony Baluco moved in. He is in a band or something and not around much."

"Okay. Well, he has good taste."

"It works. I do think yours will be very nice when it's finished. You add that feminine touch. I say that with all respect. As you can see, there are few pictures on the walls here. No floral arrangements or incidentals on the shelves. That's a guy's decorating style."

She laughed. He was right of course, but she wouldn't have said it out loud.
