Grace stepped onto the porch with Chiefy to let her do her business. She heard a vehicle drive down the road and smiled when she saw Sid's truck. Then her brows bunched as she wondered why he was back so soon.
She moved to the grass with Chiefy, but her attention was on Sid. He pulled the truck to a stop in the driveway and when he exited, he had a grin on his face. That made her heartbeat return to a normal rhythm.
"Hi, gorgeous."
She chuckled. "Hi, yourself, handsome."
He stopped in front of her and kissed her lips, then said, "Can we have a little talk?"
"Sure." Her stomach twisted slightly. They hadn't had any heavy talks so she couldn't even dream what this meant.
"So, a couple of things. First, when I got back to the Garage, Coop was sweeping up glass. The bikers tossed bricks into the windows."
"Oh no. Is he alright?"
"Yes. He wasn't there. He came back from lunch to the mess."
"Okay. Well, I'm glad he's alright. How do you know it was the bikers?"
"One of the bikers sat across the street watching all morning. As soon as Coop left, the windows were broken and guess who isn't watching the Garage right now. No concrete evidence, but we know who’s been causing all the trouble in town!"
"True."
"Anyway, he asked me if I wanted to buy the Garage."
Her heartbeat increased and she swallowed to wet her throat. What did this mean? Well, she knew what it meant, but...
"What did you say?"
"I said I wanted to talk to you."
Her eyes widened and she tilted her head. "Me?" She swallowed. "Why do you need to talk to me about it?"
Money? Her mind sped up and things popped in and out of her mind. He wouldn't ask her for money, his friends had plenty.
He motioned to the step on the deck. "Let's take a seat."
She sat down and Chiefy sniffed the area around the bottom of the deck. Sid turned to face her, took her hand in his and stared into her eyes.
"It was the first thing that popped into my head. I want to talk to Grace about this. I know we're new. But, Grace, I have never met anyone like you. I want to stay in your life and I want you in mine. I hadn't decided to move here until today, but I'd like to move here and buy the Garage. I'd like us to spend more time, all the time we can together. How does that make you feel?"
She let out a breath and chuckled. "I'd love that too. I didn't know where this was going."
He chuckled. "I'm sorry. I know this is all out of the blue. But, I was surprised that Coop asked me to buy the place and he's offering me the deal of a lifetime. But, if you didn't see us moving forward at all I won't stay here. It would be too hard to see you all the time and not be able to be with you. Talk to you. Spend time with you."
Chiefy licked his cheek and he laughed. "And Chiefy of course."
Grace swallowed and her hands shook slightly. A few months ago the thought of a relationship would have sent her packing up to go somewhere else. But, she'd never met anyone like Sid and...the realization that she wanted to spend more time with him slammed into her chest with a force.
"I want to spend more time with you too. I'm..." She took a deep breath. "I'm shocked, but happy and..." She cleared her throat. "Excited that you'll be here permanently."
He kissed her lips. His deep brown eyes stared into hers for a long time. His voice was a bit raspy when he spoke. "I never dreamed I'd find someone I'd want to spend time with. I never dreamed I'd meet a woman like you. Never. Dreamed."
Her eyes welled with tears. They came fast, her nose tingled and she sniffed. She swallowed. "Wow. Me too."
He kissed her lips again, this time he took his time. His tongue slipped between her lips and his hands held her head gently. They kissed sweetly, fully. His lips were so soft against hers. He was a fantastic kisser. His mouth formed to hers perfectly. She'd never been kissed as sweetly as Sid kissed her. She'd never craved kisses from anyone, even her ex, like she craved Sid's kisses. And, he kissed her often. Sweet little pecks. Longer kisses. Some in-between. But, he took the time to kiss her often and she liked it.
