“Before we start,” he begins and focuses his attention on me, smirking obnoxiously. “You got laid.”

“What?”

“Fifty bucks.” He grins. “You fucked her, didn’t you?”

Anger flares, and I lunge from my chair in his direction. Before I can connect, I’m hauled backward and thrown to the floor. I scramble to my knees and glare at Spike, who’s standing over me.

“What the hell is your problem?” he snarls.

My chest heaves with frustration. “I don’t have a problem,” I snap.

“I’m guessing your cousin hit the nail on the head,” Abyss comments dryly from his chair.

“I didn’t fuck anyone,” I grumble as I get to my feet. “And Skye is an employee, not a damn bunny. Don’t talk about her like she’s a slut.”

“Aw, fuck,” Malice mutters.

“What?”

Our VP shakes his head. “Nothing.”

I return to my chair and sit, but my glare finds Grim and remains on him for a long moment. Then he lifts his hands and smirks.

“I take it you don’t think she’s a thief anymore.”

“She’s not.”

“And you believe this because of what my ol’ lady figured out?”

“Violet was very convincing,” I admit.

Soul chuckles. “I’m sure she wasn’t the only one.” When I open my mouth to argue, he holds up a hand. “Don’t. I didn’t call a session to fight. We need to figure out where the hell our money is going and why Skye is being framed.”

“So, you believe me, believe her?”

“I trust your judgment, Rogue,” Soul states. “You believe her, so I believe her.”

“Still doesn’t change the fact that some shady shit is going on under our noses,” Lock bites out.

I narrow my eyes, and my shoulders tense.

“No, it doesn’t change that fact. So, let’s figure it the fuck out.”

CHAPTER 20

SKYE

“What are you doing here?”

My head whips toward Waylon, who’s hollering from the bar. Rogue gave me a couple of days off, and this is my first day back. I spent most of my time in bed with him between my legs, and I’m certainly not complaining.

“Uh… I work here.”

Waylon narrows his eyes. “You sure about that? Last time I saw you, you were being escorted out of here by Rogue and a prospect for stealing.”

“Whoa, seriously?” Tony interrupts. “Skye isn’t a thief.”

“See?” I smile gratefully at Tony. “Even he knows I’m not.”
