Chapter 12

Early the next morning, Luca, Teagan, Ro, and Octavius sat around the large conference table at S.E.A.L.; Luca sat at the head, with Teagan to his left, Ro sat next to Teagan, and Octavius took the seat on the right of Luca. Teagan saw how much Ro was shifting in her seat and realized that Oct must have really laid into her the night before. While Teagan had been surprised to find that her behind wasn't the least bit tender, Luca wasn't. With a wink, he had told her that the pain would dissipate faster with a hand spanking, and that was why he used a variety of implements when he wanted to leave a lasting impression. Just the thought had her squirming alongside Ro.

"How bad is it?" Ro whispered, never missing a thing.

"It isn't, actually. I'm fine. I was just thinking about the threat Luca made."

"It wasn't a threat, darlin'," Luca interjected.

"I don't know why they whisper when we are the only ones in here," Octavius added, taking a long pull from his coffee.

"Thanks again for the clothes," Teagan said to Ro. It hadn't made sense to go back to S.E.A.L., to get her car, go home and change, and then go all the way back. A quick text to Ro and the problem had been solved. She wasn't exactly comfortable as the long, flowing, maxi skirt type of girl; in fact, she only owned one skirt. Twisting her hair up into a messy bun and not having any makeup with her, she felt, for the first time, truly identical to her sister.

"I still can't get over how much you look like Ro," Luca said.

"It is amazing what happens when you wear the same style clothes and hair," Teagan said, laughing.

"Here are the donuts," Jason said, coming into the room and setting the box of Voodoo donuts on the table before taking the empty seat next to Octavius.

"Is there a Boston Cream donut in there?" Teagan bounced in her seat, reaching for the box. Squealing with delight, she took a big bite of the chocolate covered, Bavarian cream filled deliciousness.

Luca leaned into her, his hot breath whispering into her ear, "I told you that you have little tendencies." Teagan's blush was her only answer.

"I don't know, she could just be excited for the donuts. She is a cop after all," Octavius joked.

"Ha-ha, cops and the donut joke, so creative." If Teagan rolled her eyes any harder, they'd bounce across the table.

"I still feel like Evie should be here," Jason said, looking around the table.

"Me too," Ro added.

"We've gone over this. It isn't safe for her to be here at S.E.A.L. Anyone could see her coming and going, and that would raise questions with Montgomery," Luca answered.

"So, now what? How do we get her free?" Jason asked, taking off his glasses and putting them on the table before scrubbing his face with his hands and gulping down several large swallows of coffee. The caffeine would do little to disguise the bags under his eyes.

Teagan studied him for a moment. His shoulders were tense, his eyebrows pulled together; he was truly concerned. Jason cared about Evie. That was obvious to Teagan.

"Now, we come up with a foolproof plan for helping Evie escape. The first thing we need to do is remove her physically from the situation, somewhere out of reach of Montgomery, where we can then make sure he knows to stay away."

"One thing you should know is Montgomery has friends in the police force. They let him get away with this before and scrubbed not only the report, but also the 911 call, from existence. His connections have to be deep and powerful," Teagan said.

"He'll probably have a detail out looking for her the second she goes missing," Jason said.

"True. One thing we have going for us that other situations don't is that we have decoys," Teagan said, turning to Ro.

"I was just thinking that. It does work!" Ro exclaimed happily.

"What works?" Octavius asked suspiciously.

"Triplet telepathy!"

"Oh, Lord," Octavius muttered.

"Wait. Let's go back to what Teagan just said. What did you mean by decoys?" Jason said as he brought the conversation back to the topic at hand.

"No. Absolutely not." Luca crossed his arms over his chest and glared at his girlfriend.

"I haven't even said anything yet," Teagan argued.
