His nervousness made me slightly giddy because it showed me he really cared about our relationship, but I didn’t understand why he’d be nervous. “I’ve been to many of your family events before. This won’t be any different.”

“No, that’s where you’re wrong, babe. Dad has gone all out for every gathering. It’s a full-on hosted event now with everybody from family, friends, and in the industry. There can be around five hundred people there today.”

“Five hundred people? For Thanksgiving? You’re joking, right?”

Abel pulled onto the property and parked the car. “I wish it was a joke.”

The multitude of cars lining the property was massive. Cars were even parked on the fields of grass. Abel only had a parking spot because he took it in front of the garage where others didn’t bother to park.

Nerves had me clinging onto Abel’s arm as we entered, and I made sure to plaster on a big smile and to portray the doting girlfriend. The smile, of course, was faked, but the doting girlfriend was reasonably accurate.

Abel grabbed some mimosas from a server walking by, and it upset me they had to work on Thanksgiving Day. This was a day for family and friends, not to host a party.

“Thank you.” I accepted the drink and took an instant sip. I enjoyed it and knew I needed it with the massive crowd.

Everybody here clearly knew Abel and was friendly, greeting him. He introduced me around, and I shook a lot of hands. Several society members were a part of the crowd, and we stopped and spoke with each of them for a few minutes. Relief flooded me, knowing there were so few members. It made me happy they didn’t fully infiltrate everywhere.

Tucker came through the crowd, and he and Abel shared the bro hug. Tucker kissed my cheek. “Lovely to see you again, Chan.”

“You too Tucker. I’m surprised to see you here. I thought you’d be off with your family.”

“Christmas day is family day. Everything else is networking.” He winked, and I sighed, welcome to my future. “How’s your father?”

My eyes were about to pop out of my head, and I glanced at Abel, who talked to some celebrity who had worked with his father years ago. “How did you?”

“I’ve been around a while and like to know what’s happening around me. Don’t worry, I won’t tell anybody. I like Richard. For a billionaire, he’s all right.”

Studying the man closely, I realized denying it would only be pointless. The sooner the conversation ended, the sooner Abel wouldn’t overhear. “He’s doing as expected. We talk, and I visit as much as possible.”

“Hard times. My father’s death was quick and unexpected. I’d have hated for him to suffer.”

I wanted to tear up at his loss and yet appreciate the time I had with my own father. I’d already lost so much of it. “You’re right, it’s hard watching it, but I’m taking every moment I can.”

“Well, I’m going to mingle. Here’s hoping I can stay an hour and get out of here.”

Laughing, I said, “Take us with you.”

Tucker laughed and kissed my cheek again, clapped Abel on the shoulder, distracting him from his conversation, and they said their goodbyes. Abel introduced me to the actor, but I’d only seen him in the film with Chance, and didn’t contribute much to the conversation.

“There they are.” Chance came through the crowd with his arms wide open and lovingly hugged Abel, who ensured he had no expression on his face. Chance hugged me close. “Oh, darling, I’m sorry to hear about your mother. How are you doing?”

For a second, I closed my eyes, preparing myself for the glare from Abel, and when I opened them, I wasn’t disappointed.

“What are you talking about, Dad?”

Chance turned his head to Abel and frowned. “Gloria OD’d.” Chance’s voice held irritation as if he thought Abel were insensitive in asking the question.

Abel’s head swiveled toward me, and spitting anger flared in his gaze. “Excuse us.” He gritted his teeth, latched onto my elbow, dragged me away, and threw me into the bathroom, following closely behind me.

Barely keeping my balance at the rough handling, Abel caught me and turned me to face the mirror while he lifted my dress and lowered my panties. He smacked my ass, causing them to sting and making me hiss. My pussy wept as I got turned on by his manhandling and his punishment.

“Keeping secrets again. Why the fuck didn’t you tell me about your mom?”

Abel’s zipper lowered, and I watched his pants and boxers fall down his legs from the mirror. Abel pushed me over, and the side of my face lay against the mirror as he lined himself along my hole and plunged inside in one fast, hard thrust.

I choked on a gasp at the sudden invasion and pushed my hands against the mirror.

“Answer me, pet. Why?”
