“Speaking of Viktor, that playboy owes both of us,” Julian commented.

“Daddy vamp was here?” Rafe asked.

Both Greyson and Julian nodded.

“Shit.” Rafe scrubbed his hand over his unruly mop. “I don’t even remember. I was pretty out of it.”

“If it weren’t for Vik, you wouldn’t be alive,” Greyson told him.

“Huh?” Rafe scoured through the bar and settled on a bottle of mineral water. “My memory is kind of fuzzy. I’m still not feelin’ right.”

“How’s that?” Julian’s brows furrowed with concern.

Rafe sat down on an ottoman, his face tight with consternation. "I, uh…I can’t shift. I can feel it. My wolf is there. But it’s not giving the juice I need for shifting.”

Julian and Greyson sat in quiet contemplation. The Alpha had expected it would take time for Rafe to heal, but hadn’t anticipated it could affect his ability to fully shift.

“So what do you think?’ Rafe asked.

“Your wolf will return eventually,” Julian told him. “You were hurt pretty badly by the poison. The cambion…its horn went clear through you. Your wolf almost died. If it weren’t for Cassia?—”

Rafe’s eyes widened. “Cassia?”

“You don’t remember?” Julian exchanged a look with Greyson.

“I remember feeding. I was in and out of it. I mean…I sort of remember having more than one donor. But my dude, she’s your mate.” He wore a confused expression then his eyes widened. “No…wait. We didn’t…you know. I mean I know what happens when I bite. It always feels good. If you know what I mean.”

“Cassia is my mate, but…” Julian’s words failed him.

“Ah, let me clear things up for you, young wolf…young vamp,” Greyson began. “You’ve been trained well by Viktor to induce pleasure with your donors. We’d given you three. But your wolf…it was fading. Your Daddy Vik sensed your distress and instructed us to give you the chameleon. As you would expect, your Alpha wasn’t keen on the idea as he hadn’t initiated the mating process but the chameleon insisted.”

Rafe blew out an audible breath and set his water bottle down. He held up his palms. “Wait. We didn’t…you know…like we didn’t actually…”

“Fuck? Shag? Shake the sheets? Shall I go on?” A devious smile formed on Greyson’s lips.

“Jesus, Greyson.” Julian rolled his eyes and looked to Rafe. “This is what happened. Viktor suggested that chameleon blood would save you. She’s a rare supernatural with magically charged blood…the kind of blood that could jumpstart your wolf. He said it would work and it did. And no, the three of us didn’t…you know…we didn’t do anything. Nothing happened. End of story.”

“From where I stood, Cassia seemed to enjoy it as did you, Alpha.”

“Jesus Christ, vampire. Now is not the time for this.”

“They truly did enjoy it.” Greyson laughed. “Don’t let him tell you otherwise.”

“Why are you starting shit?” Julian asked.

“On the contrary. I’m simply suggesting that should Rafe’s wolf continue to not surface, another more intensive session may be in order.”

“You’re serious?” Rafe bit his lip.

“We’ll cross that bridge when it comes to it.” Julian would not rule out anything. Now that he and Cassia had mated, he’d be open to sharing for a night, but only if she agreed. “For now, you’re alive. Your wolf is fine. Okay, not totally fine, but it’s there.”

“Why did you save my wolf? I still would have lived as vampire, right? I don’t know if I were in your shoes, I’d share the blood of my mate.”

“I did it because I’m your Alpha. Cassia agreed because we’ve formed a connection. You’re pack.” Julian nodded.

“And his mate talked him into it,” Greyson added.

“Fuck off, vampire. Okay, yeah, I wasn’t crazy about it at first. As we’ve all established, Cassia and I hadn’t mated. Both of you know it was risky. I could have lost control and attacked Rafe. Rafe could have lost control and drained Cassia. But none of that happened. And now we’re mated. We’re all good.”
