“Don’t let your brothers try Brooklyn’s lasagna. They’ll eat it in one sitting,” Mom warned.
“I’ll have my cell. Call if you need anything,” my dad said, but his statement was directed at Smoke.
My parents left and I got up to peruse the gift basket. “Chocolate covered cherries, caramel corn, toffee, chocolate covered espresso beans…”
“The cherries,” Smoke said. “Definitely the cherries.”
“You can’t have any of this for a while,” I said. “Doctor’s orders.”
“You’re not really going to eat that shit in front of me when I can’t have any, are you?”
“I’m not that cruel,” I said.
“You’re not cruel at all.” He sighed. “But you’re trying not to eyeball those cherries and failing. You have my full permission to dive into them.”
“You really do love me.” I picked up the bag of cherries and brought them to his bed. “So, what did you and my dad talk about while you were watching sports?”
“You, of course.”
“Of course.”
“He asked me what my intentions with you were. So, I told him.”
“Yeah?”
“Yeah.”
“And…”
“I said I was going to ask you to be my Old Lady and then he wanted to punch my face because he had no idea what an Old Lady is.”
He reached out and took my hand, lacing his fingers with mine. “I told him it means you’re my woman. It means I’d die to protect you. It means the club would take care of you if anything ever happened to me. It means you never have to worry about anything ever again.”
“You said that all to my dad?”
“Yeah, and then he asked if that meant I was going to marry you. I said I was. Then we watched sports.”
He grinned at me.
I grinned back.
“I’m gonna make you so happy, Logan.”
I sighed. “You already do, Smoke.”

“Wake them up,” Harlan stage-whispered.
“You wake them up,” Grady rasped.
“You’re both too chicken shit to wake them up,” Killian said.
“Then you do it,” Chase added.
“How about the four of you shut up and let me go back to sleep?” I demanded without opening my eyes.
“You’re sleeping in Smoke’s bed,” Grady stated.
