“Hi. Clean sheets?”
“I picked them up at the front desk. Clean towels too.”
“Clean sheets,” I repeated, threading the chain into the lock. “What do you say we dirty them up?”
“I thought you were pissed.”
“Nope. I’m okay.”
He raised his brows. “Yeah?”
“Yeah.”
“If you were pissed, would you really tell me?”
“I’d tell you.”
“Damn.” He shook his head.
“What? You wanted me to be pissed off at you?”
He cracked a grin. “I wanted to see how good we are at angry sex.”
I stripped off my shirt. “You’ve heard of role playing, right?”
His eyes heated. “Right.”
I tossed my shirt aside and then sauntered toward him. “What are you waiting for?”
Chapter 16
I watched the alarm clock turn to 5:00 AM. Smoke was asleep and he was curled around me.
My body was spent and sore, and I didn’t want to move even though I had to.
“You’re awake,” Smoke said.
I startled and then quickly melted into him. “Yeah.”
“Didn’t I tire you out earlier?”
“You did.”
“Then why are you awake?”
“I just am.”
He paused for a moment. “I don’t want to get out of this bed.”
“Neither do I. If I do, that’s the end of it. The end of this.”
“We said it was only going to be for one night,” he reminded me. “And it wound up being two.”
“But now it’s really over,” I murmured.
Smoke pulled me tighter, so my back was pressed against his warm chest. And then he brushed his lips against my shoulder before gently releasing me.
Disappointment cascaded through me.
