“She wasn’t faking that shit, Knox.” I look to my two best friends to see worry etched into their features. I push my hatred for her aside for a second as I speak.

“Get Corey to take that fucker to the hospital. Make sure he stays with him so he doesn’t snitch, then bring me Riverland.” They both nod and rush off to do as I asked. I stare down at her, hating that my hand itches to run my fingers through her long brown hair. I remember the feeling of her silky strands wrapped around my fist as I fucked her from behind, the sounds she would make had me going crazy. Grinding my teeth, I shake that thought away just as the back door opens and Xander shoves River inside. she opens her mouth ready to fight but at the sight of her sister passed out on top of me all the fight flees her.

“Lake,” she whispers as she reaches for her sister and pulls her backward so Lakeland is resting against her chest. She shifts her around so she can position her more comfortably, wipes away the blood with the hem of her shirt and brushes the strands of hair from her face. “You’re gonna be okay, I got you, Lay,” she whispers before pinning me with a scornful look as Tay and Xan climb in. “What did you do to her?”

I say nothing not owing her a fucking thing. Xander drives us away from the scene where our guys will cleanup and make it look like nothing happened. Tristan will already be wiping every camera and any reports to the cops from the system before we even get home. When River curses, I look down to see Lake’s nose has started bleeding again. She tries to use her shirt to stop the flow of blood but it does nothing. I huff as I pull my shirt over my head and toss it to her, the bitch doesn’t say a thing as she uses it to press against her sister’s nose and tilts her head back slightly to stop the bleeding.

“Put her legs on your lap,” she barks.

“Get fucked,” I grit out.

“You want her blood all over your seats?” I shrug.

“Don’t care, I’ll buy another one tomorrow after I torch this one to dispose of your bodies.” Her eyes brim with hatred.

“You are a fucking asshole, you know that?”

“At least I own what I am. Can you and the whore in your lap say the same thing?” Her jaw locks and she wisely remains silent going back to tending to the bitch.

We’ve been driving for what seems like a couple hours and I’m getting pissed off at how long it’s taking to get back to the house. The bitch keeps jolting and annoying the fuck out of me. River constantly checks her pulse and opens her eyes every so often using her phone torch to make sure she is reacting to the light.

“How did you find us?” she asks after pocketing her phone.

“When you're on the run you shouldn’t go to public places with cameras,” Tay says not bothering to mask the sarcasm in his voice.

“Why were you even looking for us, Knox. We had a deal.” I snap my head to her and growl, making sure she can see the full brunt of my rage.

“I honored that fucking deal!” River doesn’t flinch away. “Your bitch-ass daddy crossed the line and broke it first. I agreed to leave her breathing because of the past the four of us shared. I know what happened that fucking night?—”

“No, you fucking don’t!” she screams.

“She killed my sister!” I roar. At the mention of Waverly, she recoils and drops her gaze back to her sister. My chest rises and falls rapidly as I try to regain my composure but it’s fucking hard when I can’t help but stare down at the reason for every ounce of pain I have felt for years.

“She didn’t kill, Wave,” she whispers after a minute of tension filled silence. I cut a glance to her to see her running her fingers through her sisters hair.

“Who the fuck did then?” I grit out. “She left my sister in that car as she jumped out like a coward and saved herself.”

River slowly lifts her gaze to me. “I’m telling you, Knox, shit didn’t happen the way you thought it did.”

“She was fucking drunk and speeding in the rain! My sister paid the price for that bitches meltdown over being promised to Roberto. She could have called me and I would have stopped it,” I snarl.

“She wasn’t drunk!” Taylan shifts in his seat to stare at River. I search her gaze trying to detect her lie. “She. Wasn’t. Drunk,” she says again, making sure we hear what she is saying.

“Start fucking talking now before I say fuck it to you ever being our fourth wheel and kill you now,” Tay sneers as he points his gun at River. She pays him no mind as she stares at me.

“Percy lied and had her blood switched at the hospital. I only found out when I broke into his safe a few years back and found the real accident report and the paperwork from the hospital.” My brows draw in. “Knox, there was another car there that night.”

“Bullshit, you’re fucking lying you bitch to cover for your sister. We went to the scene and there were no other tire tracks.” Riv ignores Xan as she pushes on.

“I’m telling you the truth, there was someone else there that night.”

I scoff. “If that were the case, why the fuck did the cunt hide away from me? That bitch claimed to have loved me and even told me I was her person,” I say sarcastically. Tay and Xan both chuckle but River glares at each of us. Before she can answer, the cunt in question begins to stir in her lap, groaning in pain.

“Take it easy, deep breaths and try to breathe through the pain, Lay,” River says. You can tell she has said that same speech often. Lake keeps her eyes closed as she reaches out and grabs my arm, using it as a crutch as she pulls herself up. She’s so fucking close I can feel her breath fanning across my face. “You may want to back up,” River mutters. A whimper escapes Lake before she slowly begins to blink her eyes open, it takes her a couple seconds to adjust and the moment her eyes finally focus and she realizes how fucking close she is her eyes widen for a second before she flinches in pain and slams them closed again, slumping forward. I try to shift out of reach of but it’s fucking futile, I have nowhere to go, so she ends up with her face in the crook of my neck.

When River coughs to mask a laugh and I shoot the bitch a look promising pain, my attention is drawn back to the other bitch when she lays her hands flat against my chest and pushes herself back. This time she seems more alert as she looks to the front. Tay wags his brows at her, she cringes and scrunches her face before looking back to me. Earlier she looked at me with fear but now… I see nothing.

“Who are you?” she whispers. I search her gaze trying to figure what fucking game she is playing but her eyes, they don’t lie. I see the truth, she doesn’t recognize me. I divert my gaze over her shoulder to her sister, who looks guilty.
