“So,” he said.

“You can bring Rex and Hailey back to Boston in the morning and then take the rest of the day off.”

He frowned. “If I leave the helicopter there for him, how am I getting home?”

Normally he left it there on Monday nights and flew back with Egan or Roxy. They worked it out daily, that way there were two left in Boston for his day off on Tuesday that Rob worked.

Egan was pushing some more buttons. “There is a cargo shipment scheduled for Monday morning back here, he can bring you when he delivers it. Then the bird is left.”

On Wednesday he normally flew over with Egan to Boston to get it and he assumed that would be the plan again.

He didn’t mind sharing his helicopter. When it was just the two of them, they swapped them out at times but Egan always had the bigger and better one.

With the business’s latest purchase, Egan was the only one that was driving that beauty, and he’d gotten Egan’s older one and Roxy was flying his.

On Egan’s day off, Lincoln was the only one allowed to fly the new helicopter if needed.

It all worked out and it’s not like he could lay claim to anything.

“Why are you doing this?” he asked.

“So that Grace can get that ride that she is looking for.”

He threw his fork at his boss’s smirk, but the two of them laughed. “Asshole.”

“Just helping my family out.”

“What if she has plans on her day off?”

“The fact she got her butt up early to cook for you tells me that she’d change any of her plans to spend some time with you. I thought for sure you were smart enough to know those things.”

“Guess not,” he said.

He grabbed his phone and sent her a text to see if she had plans before Egan started to even rearrange things. No reason to at this point, as he’d rather work.

“I’m going to start scheduling you Mondays and Tuesdays off,” Egan said. “We’ll work it out as it goes, but you should have two set days off. We are always on call on the island and you know it.”

“Yeah,” he said. He was taking more of them now because Egan was trying to help out with the baby and not always getting a ton of sleep.

“Then don’t argue with me. I sign your paycheck.”

“I didn’t think you’d go that low to help a family member out.”

Egan winked. “I’d think I’m helping you out just the same, but again, you’re family too.”

That put him in his place more than anything else in this conversation.

“What did you bring me to eat?” Emma French said to Grace thirty minutes later when her cousin opened the door.

“French toast casserole,” she said, laughing. Since she was making it for Lincoln she made another for her cousin.

“This isn’t your style but totally mine. Yum. Are you going to have some with me?”

“I had breakfast this morning,” Grace said. Her cousin had asked her to come over to answer some research questions for her next book.
