No wonder he was stinking mad about it. But then…

“Why do you think he wants you to marry Matteo?”

Jemma shrugged. “Hell if I know. But it doesn’t matter anyway. Because I’m not marrying anyone. End of story. Now, how come you’re here?”

I hesitated for a moment because she probably wouldn’t like my answer.

“Alex and I are on our honeymoon.”

She grinned, took my hand, and inspected my ring, then her smile fell. “Doesn’t explain why you’re here, does it?”

“And Alex, Vince, and Matt have a meeting with your dad.”

Jemma suddenly straightened. “He’s here? In this house?”

I nodded.

“Fuck.” Jemma jumped up, ran to a bookshelf, and hid her laptop behind some books.

“What are you doing?”

“I just wanted to ask the same question.”

I turned around and watched Matt leaning against the doorframe.

He looked almost like his old self. Every now and then, I caught him hiding a wince, but all in all, the progress of his health had been good—good enough that he was constantly picking fights with his older brother.

“None of your damn business,” Jemma said and trudged back across the room and slumped down in one of the leather wingback chairs.

“Jemma, this is Matteo Salvini. Matt, this is Jemma,” I said.

Jemma sighed. “I know. I cyberstalked him and decided he’s not my type.”

Matt chuckled, entered the room, and took the other chair. “That’s good news because I have no intention of marrying you. Now since we’re both on the same side of this shit-sandwich, how about we figure out how to get out of this, together?”

“How to get out of what?”

I turned and watched my insanely hot husband entering the room. Sometimes, I still couldn’t believe the way my life had transformed into this incredible life full of love and purpose in such a short time.

He stopped right behind me and leaned over me.

I laid my head on the backrest and looked up at him upside-down. “They’re discussing strategies to get out of this insane plan of an arranged marriage.”

He stared down at me, then leaned down and gave me a peck. “Did you tell them how awesome being married is?”

I grinned. That was all it took.

Alex leaned down again and brushed his lips over mine.

My breath caught, and my eyes widened. Alex did nothing half-hearted. Especially not when it came to me.

And especially not when he kissed me.

And sure enough, he cupped my chin with his hand and kissed me again, slow and deep.

I savored the feel of his lips against mine, his tongue invading my mouth. The upside-down angle was novel but incredibly sexy. My heart fluttered, and I sucked in air.

Matt groaned. “Here we go again.”
