I nod. "I won’t. Thank you."

She cups my face lovingly. "I’m so thrilled. You’re giving my son everything he’s always wanted and it’s even more than he could have ever imagined." She gives me a smile that’s so full of love I suck in a breath. "Thank you, my sweet girl."

I blink rapidly against the threatening tears. "I’ve never been happier," I tell her sincerely.

"I’m so glad." Lorraine hugs me again, then steps back. "I should get back out to Clayton. I wouldn’t let him come in, though he wanted to see you."

"How is he feeling?" Michael’s father had two heart attacks back to back recently.

"He’s good. He’s thrilled about today, too. But he might have to skip the reception to rest."

"I’m so glad you’re both here. It means the world to us."

"I wouldn’t miss it for anything. Welcome to the family, Danielle."

She pats Luna on the cheek on her way to the door, then leaves.

I feel much calmer and my stomach has settled down. "Can you fix my eye makeup?"

There’s another knock on the door. "Who is it?" Luna calls out.

"It’s me."

My heart seems to skip a beat. It’s Crew.

"Go away," Luna tells her brother.

"Let me in, sis." His voice sounds cheerful. "I need to see Dani real quick."

"It’s okay," I tell her. "I want to see him."

Luna opens the door and eyes her brother. "Don’t make her cry."

I can’t see him but I hear Crew scoff. "Why would I make her cry? Look, I have presents."

"Come in," I call out.

Crew comes through the door and my breath catches. He looks incredibly handsome in his tuxedo, two beautiful gift boxes in his hands. He draws up short, his eyes wide as he takes me in.

He blows out a breath. "Damn, baby, you look gorgeous."

"Thank you." I pose a little, hand on my hip. "You don’t look so bad yourself."

"I’ll be right back," Luna says, ducking out into the hallway with her phone in her hand. She gently closes the door behind her.

"Apparently, there is some wedding tradition where the groom is supposed to give the bride a gift. So, one from Nathan." He lifts his right hand. "One from Michael." He lifts his left hand.

"Oh, wow, I had no idea that was a thing. Which one should I open first?"

"Nathan," Crew says immediately. His eyes are twinkling. "Because he’s the oldest." He passes me the gift box. "And the grumpiest."

I give a giggle. "He’s getting less grumpy every day."

"That is true."

I slip the card out of the envelope resting on a Tiffany blue box.

"Should I leave?" Crew asks.
