It had been years since I’d been inside Sevenroe, but I still knew every part of it.

In all the years we’d come, my father had never explained the issues with the hospital to me, but I was curious. I wanted to know why they’d shut the place down. So, I did my own research. I pulled the blueprints from city hall and looked over every report I could find. If I knew every inch of the place by feel and smell and sight, I knew the guts of the hospital by memory. Which was how I knew the malfunctioning pipes ran through the entire hospital. A veritable treasure trove of gas, if one knew how to get it working.

“First, we need to check and make sure they’re actually in here.” Though the guards we’d knocked out, tied up, and dragged into the bushes were a good indication Cash was hiding something inside, we didn’t know what.

I desperately wanted it to be himself.

The west wall had a first-floor window. It was barred shut—another sign Cash had something valuable inside—and black, but I wanted to look anyway.

Together, we spread out across the wall, Nate and Dominic keeping watch on either side, and Greyson next to me, keeping an eye above in case any guards were roaming the roof. When they were in position, I inched forward, staying as low as I could. Crouching under the window, I thought it looked the same as all the others. Black and inaccessible.

Except it wasn’t.

In one of the corners was the barest hint of light. A place where whatever he’d placed on the glass had peeled up. Carefully, I peeked up until I could look inside the tiny space, and when I did, I swore.

Behind that window, Cash had turned the first floor into a fully functioning garage. He didn’t just have usable cars either. There were beaters the Aces could drive to hide in plain sight, but expensive cars too. Classic cars. Cars that could cover mortgages for families around the country.

Cars that spoke of wealth Cash shouldn’t have. My wealth.

He’d stolen from me, then spent my money on fucking trophies?

That shit boiled my blood.

“Take a look,” I told Greyson.

My finger shook where I held my gun, and I had the desperate urge to break a door down and go in shooting, but I wanted more carnage than that. If Cash wasn’t home, then destroying an entire parking lot of cars would have to do.

“Holy shit,” Grey whispered.

“Let’s get to the electrical room,” I said.

As expected, the room had been unlocked, and since it wasn’t important to them, the morons hadn’t bothered to replace it, further cementing my theory that Cash hadn’t done his research.

Lucky me.

Silently, I snuck inside. It was almost pitch black, barely enough moonlight to see in front of my face, but I couldn’t use a flashlight and risk exposing our location. Carefully, I slid my backpack onto the floor, rooting around until I found the night vision goggles. I almost never used them because the risk was too great most of the time. If you got caught with a flash of light, it killed your eyesight. Since the guys would cover my back, I didn’t worry.

A few minutes later, I yanked off the night vision goggles with a grin, shoving them back into the pack, and cleared my throat softly as a warning.

“Done?” Nate whispered.

“Almost.” I stepped out of the room, letting my eyes adjust to the night again.

“What else do we need to do?”

I couldn’t help the smirk that tipped my lips. “Play ball.”

All three of them looked at me for a beat before Nate sighed. “Why does that make me nervous?”

Dominic grinned. “Because it should.”

We crept through the shadows, making sure to stay covered in case somebody happened to look out a window. This was a covert mission. No shootouts.

I found a decent spot for us to wait. It wasn’t an ideal position, but the coverage was excellent, and that mattered more than a good view.

Checking my watch, I hunkered down on the balls of my feet. “We should give it a minute.”

“And then what?”
