You’d think I’d get tired of being told what to do. That I’d resent how he just expects me to obey.

Nope. And given the state of my pants right now, I don’t see that being a problem any time soon.

Adjusting my fly, I call Callie back and do as I’m told.

“Hey,” she says. “That was quick.”

“That’s what she said,” I quip, and then smack myself on the forehead because that’s about the last thing you want to say to a woman you’re about to ask over to get naked. “I mean—”

Callie laughs, a full-throated sound of unfettered happiness.

“What can I bring?” she says when she’s caught her breath. I can hear her smiling over the phone.

“Chocolate syrup,” I say, eyeing the bags of groceries on the counter that I still have yet to unpack. “And whipped cream.”

“Interesting,” she says, sounding amused. “Big plans for tonight?”

“Just bought some ice cream,” I say, ignoring the ideas springing to mind.

“O-kay,” says Callie. “Give me half an hour.”

“See you soon, babe.”

I turn the phone off and plug it in to charge, putting the groceries away in record time. West’s shower switches off before I can get back there—damn it, shower sex is one we haven’t managed yet—so I pick up what little there is to tidy in the living room and kitchen. I meant to pick up the ice cream toppings for sundaes, but now Callie’s got my brain working overtime on other possibilities.

“You’re home early,” I say when I hear him come back into the open living room, mentally kicking myself yet again. I sound like I’m nagging. “I just meant, earlier than you have been.” I keep my eyes on my computer. Play it cool, Raleigh.

I need a new strategy around these two. I have a boyfriend and a girlfriend and no chill whatsoever.

“I know what you meant,” West says. “What did Callie say?”

“She’ll be here in thirty minutes or so,” I tell him, glancing up from the screen. I promptly forget everything else in the room.

West smirks, adjusting the knot in the towel around his waist and letting me stare.

“Close your mouth, pretty boy,” he says in a low voice, his tone rich with amusement. “Or I’m liable to get ideas.”

I feel my cheeks light up at that. West’s eyes sharpen and I realize I’m sucking on my bottom lip and staring at his towel like I can make it fall with the power of my eyeballs alone.

“Raleigh?” He says it softly. Not a command, but a question.

West

Raleigh never takes his eyes off my body as I approach the couch. I don’t want to pressure him—he’s come so far in just a couple of weeks—but my pretty boy is hard to keep down.

Speaking of which…

The towel around my hips isn’t doing much to disguise the way I’m feeling at the moment. Having him in my apartment, knowing Callahan will be here any minute… it makes every second of the grind at work worthwhile. Hell, today I found myself actually thankful my father insisted on calling me back home from Chicago. I’d never have met Raleigh otherwise, and I’m equally as sure I’d never have made a move in Callie’s direction. Finn would never allow it.

I banish that train of thought, before it can derail my immediate plans, in favor of Raleigh’s gorgeous mouth, pushing him back into the sofa and settling myself astride his lap. I kiss him softly at first, giving him plenty of time to tell me to back off. As easy as it would be to push him on this, I want Raleigh to enjoy this particular act.

Selfish on my part? Sure. Sue me. I’m still going to let him lead on this one.

Raleigh pushes up onto his elbows, deepening the kiss and pressing his taut stomach against my erection. I break the kiss and tug his shirt up over his head, dropping it on the floor behind me. Raleigh’s hands are all over my chest, but he’s avoiding the towel still clinging to my hips.

I sink into kissing him, letting the heat between us bank and burn.

“Don’t you want—?” Raleigh brushes his fingers over my thighs, just underneath the edge of the towel.
