I could spend my life here without another care in the world.

Soon, Lucas’ hands both dropped to my hips, and he guided my movements as his own became more frantic. I pulled at one breast, twisting my nipple between my fingers while my other hand dug nails into Lucas’ chest just to hear the sultry hiss that would escape his lips.

My second orgasm was approaching fast, and by the stuttering of Lucas’ hips, he wasn’t far off either. Suddenly, both arms swept around my body, palms pressed to my back, and he pulled me close, almost crushing me to his body with the strength he used. I moaned when a sudden sensation of contentment bloomed in my chest, and then, with my head thrown back and Lucas’ lips laying claim to my throat, I came.

My body convulsed from the force, and I lost all sensation in my legs, leaving Lucas in charge of the final thrusts. He only needed a few more before a slick warmth swept up inside me and Lucas came with a series of deep moans that thrilled me.

“Holy… shit,” Lucas gasped against the hollow of my throat, his grip relaxing a fraction.

Holy shit indeed.

The following day, I woke early with an aching pussy and a body still swimming in the tingling after-effects of great sex. It took me a few moments to work out exactly where I was; the ornate nightstand and pearl lamp were fancy enough to be my hotel room, but it wasn’t my room. The dark oak paneling on the wall and the crystal chandelier that revealed itself above when I rolled over confirmed that even more.

It was luxurious but, somehow, even more than the richness I was currently residing in.

Soft snoring to my left gave me the answer I was seeking and the moment I saw Lucas’ sleeping face, memories of last night burst to the forefront of my mind.

Drinks, flirting and mind-blowing sex.

Holy shit.

I’d never had a one-night stand before, although truthfully, those options were limited back home. The idea of something so saucy felt like it should be shameful, but as I eased myself out of the vast bed, I found myself feeling lighter than normal. Like Lucas had fucked all the anxiety right out of me.

Should I wake him? Standing naked by the bed, I struggled with what the right thing to do here was. Waking him seemed polite, but what if he woke up and was disappointed to see me here? What if he woke up and regretted last night?

After all, a man as handsome as that living in a place like this probably didn’t like to see their dates the morning after, right? But I yearned to see those warm honey eyes again, just one last time.

In the end, the slight chill of the air got the better of me, and I slipped out of the bedroom and into a large lounge that held even more luxury than the bedroom. Marble pillars, gold detailing on the ceiling, and enough crystal to blind; this guy was definitely rich.

My dress remained where it had been thrown the night before and I redressed hurriedly, torn between wanting Lucas to wake up and wanting to slip away unnoticed. It was fun, don’t get me wrong but I had never done something so reckless.

It was exciting. I could just picture Lily’s face when I told her.

I grabbed my purse and debated leaving a note but decided that would surely come across as weird. People in the city were more laid back than that, right?

At least they were in the movies.

In the end, I took the elevator down to the lobby; unlike last night, it was filled with people. Men in business suits and women in extravagantly beautiful dresses and blouses, I was definitely out of place in my simple floral dress. Smoothing down my unkempt hair, I kept my head down and ran out of the hotel, only relaxing when I was a block away with a coffee shop in sight.

What a night. Despite the way I left, a secret smile lingered on my lips as I headed for Starbucks because something felt different. It was difficult to pinpoint but it may have been the delight at securing a night with such a gorgeous man.

Suddenly my phone buzzed to life, and with it, came reality. I groaned softly and pulled out the device, unsure who would be texting so early. It was a message from an unknown number and upon opening the message, my cheeks warmed, and my heart skipped a beat.

‘Hey, it’s Lucas. You gave me your number and then left without saying goodbye, I’m a broken man. Thanks for last night. Welcome to New York.’

LUCAS

With two cups of coffee in one hand and bagels in a bag hanging from one wrist, I hummed quietly to myself as the elevator swept me up to my friend’s Penthouse. There was a lightness in my step, and the small knot of tension that had grown in my back over the past two weeks had faded after last night.

Scarlett.

What a woman.

Waking to see her gone had been a disappointment, but I couldn’t blame her. People were complicated, and things had moved fast last night. I didn’t regret a thing, though and her sweet text response thanking me for a great night left me hopeful. There was always a chance I would see her again, right?

Sebastian’s Penthouse was in darkness when the doors opened and I walked in cautiously, assuming he was likely still asleep. It was ungodly early, but I was bursting to talk to someone just to express my excitement. Switching the coffee tray to my other hand, I approached the bedroom and nudged it open with my elbow, peeking inside.
