I groaned dramatically and draped over the counter next to my brewing coffee pot while my best friend tutted on the FaceTime call somewhere behind a large bouquet of flowers.

“Scarlett, sweetie. You’re not awful. There’s absolutely nothing wrong with what you’re doing. In fact, I think it’s exciting.”

“Exciting?” I lifted my head slightly and peeked over the curve of my arm. The flowers parted briefly, and a flash of Lily’s face appeared.

“Yes! You have three delectable suitors hanging on your every word. That’s exciting.”

“You make them sound like entrees,” I chuckled.

“In a way. Look, three men at once might be uncommon to us but I’m sure it’s all the range in the city. You’re single and you might as well get something good out of your trip there.”

“Don’t you think it’s weird that they… know each other?” I buried my face back into my arms.

“No,” Lily replied. “Do you?”

Part of me wanted to say yes, but it wasn’t exactly how I felt. It was how I thought people would see it, and that I should feel strange that they knew each other but in truth, I didn’t mind. If anything, it made it a little easier.

“No, but I feel like it should be weird. But it’s not. It’s a little more fun. They don’t seem to mind – and they definitely talk about me so it’s no secret. The only weird thing is…” I groaned and straightened up as the coffee maker beeped. “They’re all best friends with Toby and he hates me.”

“Let’s forget about Toby for a second. Hard, I know,” Lily snorted. “You like these guys?”

“What do you mean?” I moved around my small kitchen area, gathering a cup and preparing my drink.

“Well, you’ve seen them all more than once, slept with them all more than once. That would suggest that this is more than just sex.”

I paused, a spoonful of sugar in my hand halfway to the cup. “Do you think so?”

“You tell me,” Lily laughed, and she finally appeared on screen with rosy cheeks and gold dust clinging to her fingers. “They’re your men.”

“I suppose… I haven’t had much time to think about it beyond the action but…” There was a clear answer as soon as I considered it. “Yeah.”

“Which one do you like?”

“All of them? I mean, Lucas is adorable. He’s boyishly handsome and he has these soft curls that are so cute. His voice is calming, and he listens so easily. He’s so sexy and kind and the sex was fucking incredible even before I knew his connection. Then there’s Danny and he’s dark and handsome, he’s a little more jokey than the others and I sometimes wonder if he’s evaluating me but then when he fucks, he’s so powerful. And we share similar experiences.”

“Like?”

“Crazy exes.” Coffee poured, I grabbed the phone and wandered back into the lounge area of my hotel room. “I think I could talk to him for hours and not be judged.”

“How sweet.”

“And then Sebastian. He’s so… tall and commanding. His entire presence is dominating and he’s so rough and hard but when he praised me I thought I was going to cry with how good that made me feel.”

“You have a secret praise kink huh?” Lily teased off-camera.

“Maybe. Each one has different things I like. When we spend time together, it’s never the same and I like that. I like all of that and I don’t think I would know who to choose.”

“I don’t think you’ll have to.” Lily reappeared with a stem between her teeth, muffling her words slightly. “Think about it. They’re all best friends, right? And they know the drama with Toby, and they all move in the same rich circles yet none of them have tried to break it off with you. It’s not a secret between them and if they talk about you, they clearly don’t mind.”

“I feel almost… greedy,” I admitted, settling down on the couch and draping a blanket over my legs. “Like I have too much.”

“Fuck that,” Lily laughed, the stem falling free. “After everything, you deserve all the fucking attention, okay? Now listen, don’t put yourself down here. As long as you are having a good time that’s all that matters.”

I nodded and drank my coffee. “I am.”

“And you don’t have to choose. Like them all. Love them all. It doesn’t matter. I am proud of you though. When I told you to let your hair down in the city, this is way better than I expected.” Lily grinned and my brows lifted. “Are you happy?”

“Sometimes,” I admitted. “When it’s me and them, definitely. But when I’m alone, I think of Toby and the house and it’s hard to be happy. Or I look at my phone and see Shane texting non-stop because he can’t get a fucking hint.”
