Heartened in a way that she’d never before experienced in her life—possibly due in part to the aftermath of their recent sexual interlude—Lilianna made an unusual decision. She’d let them help. “Fine. Let me get dressed and I’ll go hide out in Old West Town.”

She slipped her clothing back on, grabbed her purse, and headed downstairs with Dylan. Hunter wouldn’t let her leave until she put his jacket back on. The smell of him surrounding her actually made her feel better about this outrageous plan.

On the one hand, she didn’t want them to get into trouble because of her. On the other hand, she really didn’t want to go off with anyone else tonight. She liked Hunter and Dylan. She felt safe with them. She wanted to spend more time here. Have more sex.

The Feds would likely stick her in a safe house “for her own protection” and she’d live like a criminal tucked away out of sight. At least with Dylan and Hunter she got sexual companionship and two hot bodyguards.

They had already proven they could keep her safe when they took her out of the tavern and right past Sammy’s bone breaker earlier. Not to mention the fact that she didn’t know what anyone in the federal law enforcement could possibly want from her.

Surely they couldn’t be on to Sammy Heller, could they? And what did she have to offer them but her version of events. She didn’t have proof that he was trying to shake her down for an illegal loan payoff.

She wasn’t certain. But she felt it was better to stay with the men she knew, rather than to disappear in a government bureaucracy with strangers.

She didn’t trust easily. She truly didn’t trust some nameless police agency to protect her when she’d heard that Sammy had connections absolutely everywhere, even in law enforcement. The timing was pretty obvious, too.

It had never been proven, but she knew Sammy would pretty much stop at nothing to find her, regardless of her feelings on the matter. He felt she owed him something. He liked to win at all costs. Letting her slip away effortlessly wasn’t truly a plausible scenario in his world. But that didn’t mean she had to make it easy for him.

Lilianna decided to take her chances with two men who fulfilled her desires, induced her body to sing, and made her believe in love at first sight for the first time ever.

Hunter prowled around the den trying to decide whether to bring a weapon along. He opened his gun safe and surveyed his choices. He also ground his teeth together in utter frustration, hating that Lilianna had to be scared away.

If this hadn’t happened, they’d be snuggled together, sandwiched around a freshly showered Lilianna, and asleep by now, dreaming of morning sex, or they’d still be taking turns making her scream in delight.

The thought of pushing inside of a sleep-rumpled, warm Lilianna first thing in the morning made his cock stir. Hunter smiled internally. He couldn’t remember the last time any woman had made such an impression on his jaded soul. Especially not the first time he merely looked at her. But for some reason, he was currently smitten.

The wait for the warrant to materialize was endless. And he hated waiting. He also wasn’t letting Kendall open the gate until he’d read every word of the paper claiming to be a way into their private compound to search for Lilianna. Although, Kendall was never anxious to open the gates of their private domain for anyone anyway.

After Dylan and Lilianna had left the house, he’d called Duke Stanton, Enclave’s local sheriff, and left a message, asking for a double-check of this supposed warrant for Lilianna’s entrance into federal protection.

He wasn’t fully convinced that it was lawful. Probably wishful thinking on his part, but he planned to fight it tooth and nail until the end. They’d likely get inside the perimeter, maybe even inside the house, but it didn’t matter. She wasn’t here, and they wouldn’t find her ever if he had any say in the matter.

Hunter only had a basic knowledge of reading the legalese of warrants. However, Duke could determine the parameters of the document immediately. Was it for the house only or also the surrounding property? Were they allowed to search each and every home in the compound or just his and Dylan’s?
