He pushed out a long, slow sigh. “Absolutely nothing.”

“Why not? It’s obvious you both lust after each other.”

“She’s too young.”

“She’s twenty-three.” Hunter didn’t get his resistance.

Duke’s eyes slid shut, and he shook his head like he’d just gotten a punch to his solar plexus. “Jesus, she’s even younger than I thought.”

Hunter gave him a look. “What’s the big deal? What are you, thirty, thirty-one?”

“Thirty-six,” he said on a miserable-sounding sigh.

“Wow. You are an old man. Practically a crypt keeper.”

Duke’s withering stare only made him laugh.

Hunter said, “I think you’re stupid for ignoring her. She’s nice. Attractive. She makes delicious things, and she wants you.” He whispered the final four words because the customer approached with an armload of toys to purchase.

“Duly noted.” Duke tipped his hat and walked out. Hunter noticed that he didn’t cross the street to go see Victoria. Too bad. Maybe he’d have to play matchmaker at a later date.

When he got home, Dylan was still gone, but he found Lilianna in the kitchen, sporting a chef’s hat, a large smudge of cocoa on her cheek and forehead, and a big grin.

There was not an open space in their sizable kitchen that didn’t have a tray, plate, or pan filled with various candies and treats.

He walked carefully through the sugar gauntlet trying not to sweep something onto the floor. “You’ve been busy, I see.”

“I had a good day.”

“Victoria tasted your truffles, she wants to talk to you about a part-time job.”

Lilianna sobered. “Really? Or are you just being nice?”

“Yes. Really. And I don’t know what you’re talking about. I’m never nice.”

She kissed his chin. “You’re always nice to me.”

He ran the tip of his tongue along her cocoa-flavored cheek, ending with a kiss at the corner of her mouth. “Guess I’ll have to work on that.”

“Dylan called a minute ago, he’s on his way home. And he wants me to draw a bath for him because he had a fight with an oil pan and lost.”

Hunter laughed out loud picturing that very easily. “Draw a bubble bath in my oversized tub, then make him take a shower. He can only join the two of us once he’s cleaned up.”

She nodded. “That’s pretty much what I told him, too.”

“Great minds think alike.”

“Did Victoria really like the truffles?”

Hunter shrugged. “Sounded like it when she moaned after eating the first one. And Duke liked them, too.”

She brightened. “Duke was there?”

“Yep.”

“What happened?”

Hunter tilted his head to one side. “What do you mean?”

She grinned. “You know what I mean. What happened between Duke and Victoria?”

His eyebrows raised when he said, “Well, she fed him a truffle.”

Her eyes lit up with this piece of gossip. “Ooh. I wish I could have been there. She wants him in the worst way. But he foolishly thinks he’s too old for her.”

“How do you know all this?”

“I saw them together at the grocery store a couple of days ago. It’s so obvious.” She kissed his chin again, pulled her white chef’s hat off, along with her apron, and then led him by the hand out of the kitchen and upstairs to the bathroom. She stripped out of her clothes and started the water in the tub, climbing in and motioning him to join her.

Hunter did a silent whoop of joy. Life didn’t get much better.

Twenty minutes later Dylan came in freshly showered and slid into the massive bubble bath with them.

“I peeked in the kitchen and noticed that you’ve used every grain of sugar in the state of Montana in what I can only assume is a bid to fatten us up.”

Lilianna sloshed bubbly water on him. “Be nice or you don’t get to taste test later on.”

“Oh, honey, there’s only one thing I want to taste test right now.” He kissed her, but then trailed his fingers down her body and pushed the first two digits into her slick pussy. It was all she could do not to slide under the water level in appreciation.
