“Yes,” she said, staring at him intently. “He did.” Would she consider a temporary arrangement?

He cleared his throat. “What do you think?”

The hint of a smile tugged at one corner of her mouth. “I’m interested in learning more.”

“About?”

“About you. About Colton. About ménage relationships, the unusual lifestyle, and whether you’re at all interested in one with me. Given the way things were going, I thought you might be willing to show me something along those lines. Perhaps I was mistaken.”

Warrick’s chest tightened with admiration. She understood. Not surprising, given the length of time she’d spent in OWT. She had to have met several of the trios there frolicking around, albeit in marital bliss. “You’re not mistaken,” he whispered.

“Right now, I’m also thinking about one more thing.”

“Oh?” His eyebrows rose in question. “What might that be?”

The hint of a smile shaping her lips changed to a full on grin. “I’m considering what might happen to me if I locked your office door.”

Wicked, wicked things. Warrick’s cock pulsed, half in gratitude and half in let’s do it now. But he couldn’t. This was not where he wanted to be with her the first time.

She still didn’t know their strict rules. Yet. Something else he wanted to explain in a different venue other than his office. Like his bedroom.

So he pushed out a long breath and ignored her overture. “I will hate myself later for this—because truthfully I already do—but please let me walk you to your car.”

He watched a myriad of expressions cross her lovely features before she turned away, her shoulders stiff. Was she angry? Probably. He waited for a litany of irate words to spout forth about being a clit tease.

Instead, she was silent, facing the grandfather clock by the door. Before he could put his hand on her shoulders or make further excuses for why he wasn’t already dick-deep in her pussy and working on giving her a memorable orgasm, she said, “Holy shit, is that the time?” She promptly whirled around with an anxious look.

“Yes. Why? Are you late for something?”

She pushed out a long breath. “Yes. My job. I can’t believe I forgot I had to go to work.” She pointed an accusatory finger at his chest. “You are dangerous.”

He laughed. “Well, so are you. Pot or kettle, I’m uncertain which of us is which right now.” He walked past her, opened the door for her, and followed her out to where his receptionist usually sat.

“I’m so sorry.” Isabelle put a hand on his forearm.

Warrick kept from touching her only by a huge strength of fortitude that slipped the more time he spent in her company. “For what?”

“I’m the one who got frightened in the hallway. I’m the one who kissed you first. And I’m the one who lost track of time. You’re right. I’m the dangerous one. I know you don’t know me, but this isn’t how I usually operate.”

Warrick could have left things right there and agreed with her and moved forward, but it wasn’t the truth. He grabbed her in his arms, pushed her against the wall by the door, and kissed her like neither of them had tomorrow as an option.

He broke the kiss after several lip-licking seconds, and whispered against her mouth, “Make no mistake, Isabelle. I am dangerous where you’re concerned. I won’t let you take all the responsibility for the spectacular kiss or what almost happened on my desk tonight.

“Trust me when I say, you simply beat me to it. And the truth is, I like that about you.” He pressed one last firm kiss against her mouth. “The next time we meet, I’ll invite Colton, and then we’ll have a lot more to talk about. But for now, let me get you safely to your vehicle and on to where you need to go this evening.”

Her gaze was riveted to his eyes. She swallowed hard but didn’t turn away. “Thank you, Warrick. I’ll look forward to the next time we all meet.”

Neither of them said another word in the building. Warrick draped a protective—possessive—arm around her shoulders and led her to the parking lot.

She drove a midsized, dark-blue SUV with expired Illinois plates.

“Tell me,” he said. “Were you here getting license plates?”

“How did you know that?”

“Just a guess.”

She got inside her car, started it, and rolled down her window. Her expression now pensive. “Are we truly all going to meet soon?”

“Count on it.”

“Do you want my phone number?”

“I’ll find you.”
