“I can help you wash up,” Adam offered.

He still looked like he wanted to get away. For a second, Lizzie contemplated letting him before she reminded herself that she was tired of that particular dynamic.

“Can we leave it?” She walked over to the couch and patted the seat beside her. “Will you talk to me?”

He came over and sat down, his expression unreadable. Lizzie took a deep breath and faced him.

“I don’t want you to think that you can’t kiss me.”

He stayed quiet, his attention fully on her. “Okay.”

“If you want to, that is,” she qualified.

“You know I do.”

“Good, so maybe we should establish some rules?” Lizzie asked hopefully.

“Last time I tried to talk to you about this you told me to stop.”

“Which was a mistake,” Lizzie admitted. “I was . . . afraid that I was attracted to you. I didn’t know what to do about it.”

“Afraid?”

“We’ve just become friends again. I didn’t want to mess that up.”

He nodded, his gray gaze fixed on her face. “I felt the same.”

“And I have Roman, which complicates things even further.”

“That I also understand.” He paused. “I wouldn’t ever do anything to hurt him, or you.”

“I know that.” She grabbed his hand. “You’re a good person.”

“I don’t feel like one right now.” He sighed, his thumb caressing her palm.

Lizzie leaned in and deliberately kissed him right on his frowning mouth. “As I said, I like it when you kiss me.”

His free hand came around her neck and stayed there. “So, you’re saying we should take it slow?”

“Yes.” She smiled into his eyes. “See? You are smart.” She kissed him again. This time he let her into his mouth and she sighed with pleasure. “Adam . . .”

“What?” he said hoarsely.

“That’s so good.”

The next moment he lifted her to sit on his lap and his arms came around her. “This okay?”

“Perfectly okay.” She slid her hand under the fabric of his shirt and he shivered. “How about this?”

“Also good.” He bent his head to kiss her again.

Ten minutes later, she had his shirt practically unbuttoned, and he had his hand up her skirt.

“I thought you said slow,” he groaned as she attempted to pull his shirt out of his jeans without dealing with his belt.

She risked a frantic glance at the clock behind his head and made an executive decision. “Don’t move.”

“What—”

She urged him back until he was against the arm of the sofa and pushed his knees apart, her fingers busy unbuckling his belt and dealing with the straining button of his jeans. She unzipped him and studied his white cotton boxers before carefully peeling them back to reveal the glories within.

“Oh . . .” She sighed and licked her lips. “It’s so nice when everything is exactly in proportion.”

“Lizzie—” Adam made a desperate grab at her shoulder as she lowered her head, cupped his balls, and took him into her mouth. “God—that’s—”

He forgot how words worked as she sucked him deep. He wanted to close his eyes against the pleasure, but he also wanted to watch. His fingers clenched around a handful of her hair, and his hips rocked forward urging her on.

“Lizzie.” It seemed to be the only word he knew right now. He wasn’t sure if he was pleading with her to stop, or to never stop as pleasure grew at the base of his spine. He was so close to coming. “I need—”

His climax roared over him with a crash, leaving him temporarily at the mercy of his own desires and totally unhinged from reality. It was glorious, it was terrifying, and now he was afraid to open his eyes and come down to earth.

With one last kiss, Lizzie clambered off his lap and disappeared into the bathroom leaving him dazed and alone, his jeans and underwear pulled down under his ass, and his dick humming a happy tune.

By the time she emerged smelling of lavender and mint, he was standing by the couch attempting to restore himself to order.

“Bathroom’s free,” she said unnecessarily.
