Every once in a while, her fingers would brush where we were connected, and I’d have a jolt of excitement dart through my balls and up my spine.

It was on the fourth such pass that I realized that she was doing it on purpose—trying to make me lose control.

“Baby,” I panted, my heart skyrocketing. “If you don’t stop that, I’m gonna come, and you’re gonna be shit out of luck. We had to leave five minutes ago. And though Bennett might understand why I’m late to the meeting, your principal won’t.”

She growled and narrowed her eyes.

It was honestly so cute that I nearly laughed.

But then she bit her lip as if watching me watch her was exciting her.

Then she started to tighten, announcing her impending explosion.

And that was when I did lose it.

I came at the way her face twisted in her pending pleasure.

Slamming into her so hard that I rocked her hips into the bathroom counter, I closed my eyes, threw my head back, and roared.

Her pussy clenched down, but I was too busy trying not to die from my orgasm than to notice that she’d had hers.

When I finally came down, felt my breath release and my heart rate return to a livable state, I opened my eyes and dropped my head back down to look at her.

She was grinning.

“Shut up.” I laughed as I pulled out of her.

As I did, I looked down, nearly groaning.

She was so full of me that I was leaking out of her pussy.

It was so hot.

I swallowed hard, bringing my finger up to drag some of the escaped fluids, only to try to shove them back inside of her. Wishing I could magically will something to happen.

When my eyes met hers in the mirror, I knew that she knew what I wanted.

Yet, she didn’t object. Didn’t say a word.

Only grinned and stood up.

“I know I’m late, but I don’t think that a shower is going to…” She trailed off when I started to shake my head.

“Leave it,” I ordered. “All day.”

I honestly expected her to say no and go back to do what she wanted.

But she didn’t.

She looked at me, straight in the eyes, and nodded once.

“Okay.”

We walked up the length of Calloway’s walk, and just when we were about to crest the porch stairs, I saw it.

Bile burned in my throat, and I pulled Calloway to a halt. “Stay here.”

“Wait, why?” she asked.

“Stay here,” I ordered.

She must’ve seen it in my eyes, the anger and fury, because she stayed where she was but kept her eyes on me.

“Turn around,” I said.

She scrunched up her nose but did as I said, and I waited until I was sure that she was facing away when I topped the porch steps.

“Goddammit,” I muttered, seeing the brutally slain dog laying on her porch steps.

I recognized it instantly.

It was the dog that she’d pointed out on the way home last night.

What and how had this happened?

Because it was obvious the dog had been murdered.

It broke my fucking heart, too.

Backing away so that I was back at her side, I took her hand and guided her back down the sidewalk.

“Call in sick,” I ordered.

“Wait, what?” she asked, sounding cutely confused.

“Let me have your phone. Never mind. I’ll call Ares. She can take care of it,” I said.

She tried to tug my hand away, but all it did was cause me to reach around her and heft her over my shoulder.

She squeaked when I got her up onto me, then laughed lightly when I walked her to the truck without another word.

It was when she was in the front seat of my truck that she chanced a look at her house.

“What’s that on my front porch?” she asked. “I’m waiting for a package.”

I shook my head. “Not that kind of package, darlin’.”

“What do you mean?” she asked.

I waited until we were well away from her place until I told her.

“There was a dead dog on your porch,” I murmured quietly. “The one that you pointed out last night on the way home. The really fuckin’ cute one.”

The sight of seeing her face fall?

Yeah, that would forever be ingrained in my memory.

“What else?” she asked. “Why did you not want me to see?”

An hour later, Calloway was safely ensconced at my house.

After talking to Ares to get her to cover for Calloway today, I dropped her off at my place then went to the station.

Once there, I totally skipped the meeting and went to see her father and Luke, who just so happened to be in the same place.

They both looked up as I entered, one scowling, the other one looking resigned.

“What is it?” Luke, the resigned looking one, asked.

Shortly, might I add.

My brows rose. “I need to talk to you. Actually, I just need you to follow me.”

“Where?” Bennett asked, sounding just as pissed as he looked.
