“Not that I’m complaining,” I said, “but what was that for?”

“You look incredible in that suit, and I just couldn’t help myself.” She traced my jaw line with her tongue and then nipped gently at my pulse point. I groaned. Fuck she made me so hard.

“If you keep that up, we will never get your restaurant painted,” I said breathlessly. Lord knows I didn’t want her to stop, but her father was waiting for us downstairs, and we really did have a lot to do.

She brought her lips to mine again and then took a step back out of my arms. “Yeah, yeah, yeah,” she said with a little pout. “Go change.”

“Give me a rain check?” I asked, pulling her to me for one more kiss.

“Deal.”

Alissa

Good God he was handsome. When I looked up and saw him in the doorway, I thought I might orgasm right there on the floor. We’d been in a hurry this morning, and he hadn’t shaved.

The five o’clock shadow gave him a rugged bad boy look, but the perfectly tailored black suit screamed of responsibility, and the combination of the two was going to kill me. He was positively lickable.

When he said that he wanted to change, my heart almost broke. Of course, he couldn’t paint in those clothes, but I wasn’t ready to let him take them off yet – well, unless I got to witness the removal. I made a stupid excuse to go upstairs, and Lexy knew it. Busted.

I couldn’t take it any longer. I had to kiss him. He was like a drug, a very powerful and addicting drug. I was officially hooked.

When he asked me for a rain check I almost told him to forget the painting and take me now, but he was right. I would hold him to it though. Some day in the near future I was going to get that suit off of him piece by piece. He was too damn responsible for his own good.

An hour later we were all covered in paint. Jackson had started it by accidentally dripping paint into my hair from his position up on the ladder. I retaliated by running my brush all the way up his bare leg from his sock to his knee. He tried to chase me with more paint, but I, of course, tripped over my own two feet and fell into the paint tray, spraying Lexy and my dad with liberal amounts of Adobe Desert. It was an all out war after that. Thank God we had covered the whole floor with plastic.

We were all laughing hysterically and rolling around on the slick, paint-covered plastic when we heard a throat clear in the doorway. Lexy gasped, and I looked up. David was leaning against the doorframe shaking his head.

“You know?” he said. “Someone told me that you might need some help with the painting over here. I don’t believe a word of it. You seem to be doing just fine on your own.” Lexy stood up and crossed the floor, miraculously avoiding falling down again. “David,” she purred, “how sweet of you to join us.”

David was enamored; he never even saw it coming. Lexy threw her painted arms around him and knocked him into the wall, which was also covered in fresh paint. “Welcome to the club.”

“Oh, you really shouldn’t have done that,” he teased.

I was really glad that Jackson had purchased way too much paint, because I think less than half of it wound up on the walls. In the end though, it turned out beautifully. We cleaned up the mess and hosed ourselves off in the alley. Tomorrow we would finish the floor, hang the curtains, and bring in the new tables and chairs. With any luck, I would re-open the day after that.

When they were dry and clean enough to go home, Lexy, David, and my dad all headed out for the night. The police were watching the building now, in rotating shifts, until Kayla was found. The locksmith had changed all of the locks, but we weren’t taking any chances.

Jackson pulled me into his arms and kissed the top of my head. “Can I take you home now?” he asked.

“I am home,” I said.

“I want to take you to my home.” He lifted my chin and kissed me softly on the lips.

“Please, Alissa? I don’t want you to stay here until whoever did this has been caught.” He smiled against my lips. “I also have a rain check to cash.”

I was done for. How could I possibly resist this adorable, sweet man with paint still drying in his wild hair? I returned his kiss.

“Just let me get a few things from upstairs,” I said with a smile.

Chapter 27: Fast Cars and Slow Nights

Jackson

Alissa went upstairs to gather a few things to bring to my house, and I ran my fingers through my hair nervously. I suddenly had a whole flock of butterflies floating around in my stomach. We had technically spent the last two nights sleeping together, but this time when I asked her to spend the night it felt different, and we both knew it.

I didn’t want to rush her, so I was trying to keep my expectations at bay, but I was so very ready for her. Rolling around in the paint with her had felt like one long session of foreplay after the searing kiss she had given me in her apartment, and my body was craving more of her attention. I remembered the look in her eyes as she had curled her fist around my tie and pulled me down to kiss her. My dick was stirring again, and I fought it down with my last once of will power.

She came down a few minutes later and declared herself ready to go. I helped her lock up and waved to the police officers as we crossed the street together. It was then that I remembered I had brought the Ferrari. Every fantasy that I had ever had involving Alissa and one of my cars flashed into my mind. So much for keeping my cock in check.

“Where’s your...” Alissa started and then she stopped dead in her tracks and sized up my baby. “Yours?” she asked.

“Mine,” I said. She didn’t notice that my gaze was fixed on her and not the car.

A beautiful smile broke out on her face. “Wicked!”

I helped her into the car and reached across her lap to buckle her in, which we both knew she was fully capable of doing by herself. I allowed my fingers to rest just a little too long against her hip. God she looked hot in my car.

I jogged around to the driver’s side before I could embarrass myself any further and slid in beside her. “Wanna see what she can do?” I asked.

“I’d love to see what you can do with her.” I didn’t miss the deliberate double-entendre in her words. I was never going to make it back to my place in one piece.

I started the car and focused on the purr of the engine. Hell yes! I loved fast cars.

“Hang on tight,” I said, and we were off. I was torn between taking the scenic route so Alissa could see what my car could do and getting home as fast as humanly possible. My mind was made up when I felt Alissa gently rest her hand on my thigh. I would explode if I didn’t get her back to my place immediately. The short trip felt like hours as her hand slowly slid higher up my leg, and my erection grew inconceivably harder. At the first red light, eight blocks from my house, I pulled her to me and kissed her hard. She whimpered into my mouth, and I failed to notice that the light had turned green. A car behind us honked, and Alissa blushed furiously. I felt like I was in high school again.

I pulled into the garage and parked the car in its usual spot. I opened Alissa’s door and squatted down to her level. I couldn’t keep myself from kissing her again, but the position was awkward, and I was too anxious to let it last long.

She looked nervous as we made our way over to the elevators. As the doors closed behind us she turned and gave me a small smile.

“I don’t mean to make you feel unwanted,” I teased, “But if I kiss you again, we won’t make it out of this elevator.”

Her warm laugh filled the small space, and she pulled her bottom lip between her teeth.

“Jackson, I, um...” She was looking down at the floor, and I suddenly wondered if I had pushed too far.

“Alissa, we don't have to... I didn't mean to make you uncomfortable...”

“No,” she cut me off. “No, I mean...” She took a deep breath. “I mean... I want to... I want you.” She blushed adorably. “It's just, it's been a while for me, and I'm a little nervous to be honest.”

The elevator dinged, signaling our arrival on my floor. We walked in through the foyer and I took her face gently in my hands, looking into her eyes.

“Alissa,” I took a deep breath as well. “It's been a long time for me, too. I won't push you.

You just tell me if you're uncomfortable with anything okay?” She gave me another nervous smile and nodded.

“Why don't we just settle on the couch for a while? Would you like a glass of wine?”

“I'd love one, thanks.”

I went and fetched two glasses of red from the kitchen, forcing myself to calm down.

When I returned, she also appeared to be more relaxed. I had expected her to turn on the TV, but she had instead turned on the stereo and the varied tones of a classical orchestra filled the room.

After I sat down beside her, Alissa slid closer to me and rested her legs over mine, much like the position we were in to watch the thunderstorm.
