“Just for a drive,” Niya says, and Lilly nods“Are you going to the store?” Tink yells out, and we look at her“No, but we can, what do you need?”“Here I have a list”“Sure” we get in the truck and make our way downtown to the pharmacy and I feel all eyes watching me as I go to the counter“Hello, what can I help you with?” the women, smiles and I lean in and whisper“The morning after pill please,” she looks narrowing her eyes and I know she recognizes me from the other day, but she smiles calling the pharmacist who comes out“Good morning, what can I help you with?” I look around again feeling like I’m doing something wrong“I need the morning after pill,” he nods going back behind the counter and I watch as the women who served me says something to him and they both look at me and I cringe (they're definitely thinking I’m a whore) he walks back to the counter with a box in his hand“Ok, this is the 1.5mg levonorgestrel pill, there are a few side effects, the most common is nausea and some spotting, less effect are vomiting, fatigue headaches, breast tenderness dizziness and cramping but of course with every person you may not have any systems” he hands over the box“Thank you”“There are many types of contraception’s on the market these days, of course the best is to abstain, but better to see your gynecologist”“Thanks,” I say paying for the pill feeling judged like I’m getting a lecture from my dad“You have a good day,” he says and I make my way out of the pharmacy to Niya’s truck“Did you get it?” she asks me and I hold it up “here” she says, handing me a water and I down the pill in one gulp “Are you ok?” I nod, still pissed at Saint and myself for getting carried away“I’ll be fine, Saint might be a bit pissed at me,” she looks at me“Why?”“I sort of kicked him in the balls when he told me he forgot the condom” Niya looks at me shocked“You kicked him in the balls,” she asks, and I nod“Well, kneed him when we were in the shower, and I got dressed and left.”“Let me get this straight. You were both in the shower, he told you that he forgot the condom, and you knee him in the balls, leaving him in there by himself naked.” I bite my lip nodding my head, and she laughs “oh my god Zoey.”“What? He forgot the fuckin’ condom, and there is no way in hell I’m ready to be a mother, I’m twenty-one for fucks sakes” Niya shakes her head starting the truck smiling“He is definitely going to be pissed,” she saysAs Niya pulls up to the store, I start to panic about Saint being in the shower “Niya where’s your phone?”“Why?”“I need to see if Saint is ok”“You worried about him?” I nod“Yeah, I sort of feel bad now I’ve calmed down, I just need to know he’s ok”“Here,” she says passing her phone to me and I press Colt’s number as Niya goes into the store“Hey baby,” he says“Colt, it’s me”“Zoey”“Yeah, um is Saint there” I ask him“Saint”“Yeah, has he come down for breakfast” I hear Colt moving around“Yeah, I can see him you wanna talk to him”“No, no it’s ok, I just wanted to make sure he was ok”“Then why didn’t you call him?”“I don’t have my phone on me.”“Alright, you sure you don’t want to talk to him.”“No, it's fine we’ll be back soon,” I tell him feeling a little better knowing Saint is fine“See ya when you get back,” he hangs up, and I walk into the store finding Niya talking to my old school friend Lisa when she sees me she jumps up and down pulling me in for a hug“Damn Zoey look at you, four years wow you look good.”“Thanks, how have you been?”“You know, I worked at the cannery for a while, then I worked one of the stores on the shorefront but nothing much else you know.”“Right, right” I look at Niya trying to get her to move after Kylie left school Lisa and I drifted apart, and after I left for college, we never saw each other“So, I see the town is full of Devils Soldiers there, everywhere, is the club having a big party or something,” she asks a little too eager for my liking“No,” I say pushing Niya slightly“Well, we better go, Lisa, it was nice seeing you,” Niya tells her“Yeah, you too, Zoey we should totally catch up while you’re in town.”“Sure, sounds good” (more like a nightmare) I smile“Great are you at the clubhouse a lot” I shake my head“No, I hardly go there anymore” she looks a little disappointed as I push Niya again “Well, we’ll see you around Lisa” she smiles hugging me again
