“You still should have told me,” I murmur. “I’ve got to go. Be safe and check in.”

“Ellie—”

“I can’t right now, Dawn. Just promise to be safe and check in.”

“Whatever,” she says and I hang up.

I just stand there for a few minutes, staring at my cellphone, as I try and think about everything. All of this time, I thought I wasn’t important to Liam. The fact that he called changes things. I can’t go back, but it does matter just the same.

“Why don’t you look like a woman whose man made her see stars last night?” Liam asks, and I jerk my head up.

“Called Dawn,” I reply. The smile on his face fades. He just stands there, but he opens his arms up and I don’t even think. I run into them. I close my eyes the instant he closes his arms around me, cradling me.

“It’s going to be okay, Ellie.”

“She knew that you called and didn’t tell me. I thought she was someone who would always tell me everything.”

“It doesn’t matter anymore,” he says, but I instantly shake my head no.

“It does. If I had known you called…”

“We can’t go back, Ice. We have to look forward. We’re different people now. At least, I know I am. I know what life is like without you now. You have to know I’ll fight like hell to keep you in my life from here on out. I don’t want to be without you again.”

I tilt my head back to look at Liam. I want to see his face, I need to.

“We let the past die,” I respond.

“We learn from it and we let it go,” he corrects me.

“What comes next?” I ask, my heart beating harder all at once.

“You know the answer to that one, Ice.”

“You want me to come back to Tennessee.”

“Definitely. You liked it there. It was home, remember?”

“What if the club doesn’t want me back?” I whisper, my biggest fear.

“Are you fucking kidding me right now, Ice? The boys love you.”

“So much has happened, changed…” I’m trying not to panic at the thought of going back to Tennessee, but I definitely am.

“You’ll like the changes. You’ll love Rory and you’ll definitely love Torrent. Not being wanted is the very last thing you need to be worried about,” he says, doing his best to dismiss all of my worries.

“But—”

“I mean it, Ice. It’s all going to be okay.”

I sigh, because he’s not going to let me argue with him and right now, I really don’t want to either.

“What should be my biggest worry about going back home, Liam?” I mumble derisively. I’m grudgingly letting it all go for now.

“If you’re going to able to walk by the time I get tired of fucking you.”

“You’re going to get tired of fucking me?” I ask immediately, making him laugh. I end up squealing as he picks me up and deposits me on the kitchen table, yanking his shirt I’m wearing over my head.

“Maybe, after a couple of lifetimes,” he mutters, taking my mouth in a kiss. I lose myself in his touch and the pleasure only he has ever been able to give me. I have to believe that everything will work out.

I don’t have a choice.Fury“What are you doing, Brother?” Devil asks. I grip my phone with one hand and shake my dick, then zip up with the other.

“What the hell do you think I’m doing?” I grumble.

“Standing outside with your dick in your hand, taking a piss?”

“Very funny, motherfucker. I tell you what I’m not doing, I’m not in bed making Ellie suck me off as a thank you for the way I wore her out last night.”

“Yeah, I know, that’s because you’re standing there taking a piss.”

I jerk around when I realize that Devil is coming around the side of the building.

“Jesus,” I growl, hanging up the phone.

“Diesel would have your ass if he knew how easy we snuck up on you, dude,” Rebel laughs.

“Fuck you both.” I laugh, walking toward them. “What in the hell are you doing here?”

“We came to check up on you,” Devil says.

“I’d shake your hand but….”

“Leave me out of it. I don’t want near anywhere your dick has been,” Rebel laughs. “I know you and Scorpion don’t mind getting close when it comes to that shit, but that’s not for me.”

I flip Rebel off, ignoring the guilt I feel with his words. I didn’t truly lie to Ellie, but I might have left out a few details. I need to talk to this motherfucker before he says something that will screw up my future. I make a note to do that, but for now, I need to make sure Devil is okay.

“Bullshitting aside, how are you and how in the hell did you convince Torrent to let you come out here? Last I heard you were going to Chicago.”
