“I’ll let you know,” I tell her.

Slowly her gaze moves back up to lock on my eyes.

“What’s next?” she asks, making me smile.

I capture her hand and bring it up to my mouth, pressing the scruff of my beard against her sweet little hand and kissing it while my gaze is still locked with hers. Beautiful white teeth come down and bite against her bottom lip and my cock presses against the zipper in my jeans.

Oh yeah. She’s definitely going to be trouble. But, unfortunately for me, she’s my favorite kind.5KaydenThat day at the Den with Chains excited me in ways I’ve never felt before. I thought it was the start of good things to come. I was looking forward to it. But after he kissed my hand he just left. That was three days ago and I’ve not heard or seen anything from him since. Maybe he gets his rocks off by playing games.

What the hell do I know?

I might be young, but I’m too old to play that kind of game.

“What’s got you looking so pissed, Monkey?”

I look up at Thomas and do my best to push everything else out of my head.

Including Chains.

“What are you talking about?”

“Kayden, you’ve barely been talking all night.”

“You’re being silly. You and Dom have been playing video games all night. There’s been no reason for me to talk,” I respond, hoping he buys it, but I doubt he will. Most people think Dom is the one who is most alert and never misses a thing, but I know that it’s really Thomas. He’s always wading in and calming the waters where Dad or Dom are concerned. Dad says he has Mom’s peacemaking gene. That thought makes me smile. Still, the point is, Thomas is super sharp. I can never get anything past him.

“Calling bullshit on that one, Kayden.”

“Whatever. Shouldn’t you hurry? Dom is outside waiting,” I remind him. “You know he gets impatient.”

We’re standing at my door. Thomas and Dom came over and had dinner with me, then they wasted hours playing video games. I was glad for the company, but I’m tired and more than a little sad over Chains—which is crazy. He teased me and then blew me off and it shouldn’t make me sad. If that’s his game, he’s not worth my time. That doesn’t mean it doesn’t suck, though.

“We’re not finished talking about this,” Thomas warns. I frown, then let out a slow breath.

“Okay, but not tonight. I promise I’m fine. I’m just in a bit of a funk.”

“About?”

“You wouldn’t understand, Thomas.”

“Try me.”

“It’s hard liking a guy and you think he feels the same, then he disappears. It just seems it always happens. I’m starting to think it’s me.”

“You’re perfect, Sis.”

“You’d think so, you’re my big brother, you have to. But most guys—at least the ones I’ve met—don’t want to fight an entire army to take me to the movies.”

“Then they don’t have any balls and you’re better off without them,” he grumbles, combing my hair away from my face.

“Probably, but that doesn’t mean it’s not lonely.”

“I get that. It’s hard when you have feelings for someone and they don’t feel the same.”

“That sounds like you’re—”

“I’m not ready to talk about it right now either,” he says, cutting me off.

“Soon then,” I tell him.

“Soon.”

“Bye Thomas,” I tell him, reaching up to hug him.

“Lock your doors, Monkey,” he says, giving me a wink. I watch him walk away, going down the stairs that lead to the street.

With a sigh, I lock the door. I barely make it to my bedroom when I hear knocking. Obviously one of them forgot something. I look around and see Thomas’s ball cap he was wearing and grab it. My brothers kill me. Apparently, I’ll be picking up after them even now that I’m living on my own.

I make my way to the door, unlocking it, holding the ballcap out.

“Forgot something did you? I swear you and Dom—”

I stop talking when I see Chains standing there instead of my brother.

“Cute hat. Not my style though,” he says and he’s right. Chains has this thick mane of dark hair. It’s high on his face, kind of haphazardly thrust back in a style that probably went out in the fifties, but it’s updated somehow and looks lazy and sexy on him.

“What are you doing here?” I ask, ignoring the way my heart beats hard against my chest.

“Wanted to see you.”

My eyes narrow at his reply.

“How did you know where I lived?”

“Was it supposed to be a secret?”

“Not exactly, but still—”

“Relax, Baby Girl. You’re safe with me. Your father’s men were talking about it at the clubhouse.”

“You’ve been at my father’s club?”

“You’re a biker princess, you don’t know the rules? I have to go by there when I come into town. Besides, Gunner arranged things so I could crash at The Den. I needed to show and introduce myself.”
