The dildo! Somebody had laced the fucking dildo with cocaine; I was sure of it. What kind of people did this kid call friends? They could have killed him with that shit-ass stunt! I growled in fury.

“I’m not lying, Landon,” he barked. “I don’t use drugs. You think whatever the fuck you want, I couldn’t care less. Hell, have me drug tested if it would make you feel better. You’ll see what a fool you are for thinking that about me,” he huffed in outrage.

Oh, he was good and riled up. “I think somebody might have put some cocaine powder on the dildo, Micah. You were blindfolded and wouldn’t have known. Why in the hell would you do something like that, anyway?”

He looked shocked. Then pissed. Then disheartened. “You think one of my friends drugged me? Are you serious? Why would they do something like that? It’s not like it would help them gain an upper hand or anything.” He plopped down on the bed. “They did it, didn’t they? I remember thinking it tasted gross, then feeling really weird. I was sweating and I could feel my heart pounding in my chest. Holy fuck…they drugged me.”

I sat down on the edge of the sofa and watched him battle with betrayal and anger. I truly hoped anger won out but feared it would end up being the betrayal that would destroy him most. From the brief research I’d been able to do on the plane flight over, regarding the modeling industry, I’d found it to be highly competitive, cut-throat, and riddled with all sorts of ways to keep their bodies in a slender and youthful appearance. With all of Micah’s beauty and grace, I knew he didn’t belong in that world. He would never have to fight or pull stunts to remain at the top of the modeling list—his allure came completely natural. I could only imagine how badly the other models hated that shit about him.

“Right now, Micah, you can’t trust anyone. Please don’t allow yourself to be put into situations like that again. If you want to party, I’ll go with you. Just promise me you won’t sneak off again. It’s too dangerous. Fuck, kid, even if there isn’t a stalker out there dreaming of tea-bagging your forehead, the competition is ready to knock you off at their earliest convenience. Those people are insanely competitive.”

Shaking his head, he muttered, “I still can’t believe they went that far. They all know I don’t use drugs, yet nobody said a goddamn word of warning to me. Fuckers.”

“Forget about it for now, but stay with me, Micah. It’s my job to keep shit like that from happening to you. Let me do my job.”

A look of sadness flashed across his face, but he quickly covered it up. “Sure,” he quipped. “I’ll do what I’m told.” Looking at me shyly, he added, “I’m glad you found me. There’s no telling how that game might have ended if you hadn’t gone all caveman and interrupted their fun.” He laid back on the bed, propped his head on his elbow, and stared in my direction. Since he’d laid down, I decided to do the same. There wasn’t a lot of night left, but we both needed to grab every second we could. I unsuccessfully tried to snuggle into the sofa, but about eight inches of my legs hung over the edge.

“You do realize you could sleep in the bed with me, BG. Would it help if I promised your virtue would still be intact in the morning?” When I didn’t reply, he added, “I’ll even add a row of pillows down the middle of the bed as a fluffy wall of defense against us accidentally touching during the night.” He started stacking the pillows down the middle of the bed. “Come on, BG. You’ll be useless to me tomorrow if you’re too sleepy to be alert.”

He had a point. The bed looked fucking soft. Micah looked intoxicating. I wanted to toss every pillow aside and pounce on him. I wanted to force his long, lean legs apart with my larger body and kiss him until he whimpered like a kitten. Our cocks could rub together, drenching one another in the salty liquid that would be leaking from each of us. His lips would be as soft as marshmallows and as sweet as candy.

Shit, I needed to stay as far away from that bed as humanly possible.

Nothing good could come from me placing myself that close to him.

Absolutely nothing.

I stood up and walked the short distance to the side of the bed he wasn’t on. What could I say? I’d played it safe my entire life.

I was tired of playing it safe.

Even though I’d turned off the lights when I’d crossed the floor, I could still see him smiling in the darkness as I buried my body beneath the soft blankets.
