Once we were out of the car, Allie handed the keys back to me before she linked her arm through mine and guided me to a restaurant on the end of the pier called Mariasol. She’d made a reservation, so we were seated quickly.

“First, we eat the food, then we do the things,” Allie announced after we went through the menu and decided what we wanted to eat.

Turning my hat so that the brim faced backward, I leaned forward and smiled at my girl. “What things are those?”

“After dinner, we’re heading over to Pacific Park so I can take your virginity.”

I barked out a laugh. I’d never been obsessed with the need for sex, but I was far from being a virgin. “What?”

“Your Ferris wheel virginity,” she clarified.

I was so floored that I couldn’t find words. To anyone else, it might seem like a small thing, but to me, the gesture was massive. I’d mentioned that I’d never been on a Ferris wheel and she’d not only listened, but she’d also brought me to one to rectify the situation.

“Is that okay?” she asked, her voice a bit uncertain. “I thought you’d like it.”

Realizing that my silence had given her the wrong idea, I swallowed past a lump of emotion in my throat and nodded. Reaching across the table, I took her hand in mine. “This is one of the most thoughtful things anyone has ever done for me, baby. It’s better than okay.”

She let out a relieved breath. “Phew. You scared me for a second.”

Rubbing my thumb over the back of her hand, I smiled at her. “You rocked this surprise. I can’t wait to lose my virginity with you.”

When I heard the shocked splutter of our waitress, I looked up and choked out a laugh. “I swear it’s not what it sounds like,” I said through my laughter.

She shrugged as she set a dish of salsa and a basket of tortilla chips down on the table. “None of my business, but it sounds fun,” she joked. “Do you two know what you want to order?”

“The lady will have the Santa Monica Pier combo, chicken, and I’ll have the same, but beef. We’d also like the tableside guacamole.”

The waitress nodded as she quickly jotted the order down on her pad. “And to drink?”

“A pomerita for her and a jalapeno margarita for me.”

“Sounds good. I’ll be back with your drinks and guac in a few minutes.”

The great time we had at dinner had less to do with the food than it did with the company. The one dark cloud hanging over my head was the knowledge that her departure to Chicago was imminent. Other than going to work and her having lunch with her parents on Saturday, we’d spent almost all our time together. I knew for most people all the togetherness would’ve been too much. For me, it didn’t feel like enough.

When dinner was over, and the waitress brought our check, Allie grabbed it before I could.

“My date, my dime,” she told me. I tried to argue, but she wasn’t having it, so I let it go.

Once we left the restaurant, we headed straight for the amusement park portion of the pier. Allie shut me down when I pulled out my wallet to pay for our unlimited ride wristbands. I liked how take charge she was because it was equal parts adorable and sexy as fuck. She kept me on my toes, and I loved it.

Only a few people had noticed me, and all had been cool about it, which was exactly what I’d been hoping for. Sometimes, the tourists lost their minds if they came across a celebrity. Many were demanding and could be downright rude if you didn’t give them what they wanted, like take a selfie (I was usually fine taking photos), calling their friends (awkward), or recording the outgoing message for their voicemail (the worst).

“We’re doing the best thing first,” Allie declared as she tugged my arm and guided me in the direction of the Ferris wheel.

“No buildup?” I asked, laughing.

“I’m a jump right in kind of girl,” she answered, smiling as she glanced over at me.

“Besides,” she continued, “I have a feeling that once we start, we’re going to want to do it more than once.”

“Baby, I guarantee we’ll be doing it more than once.”

Her soft giggle made my cock throb.

“You’re confident for a virgin,” she teased.

“I won’t be a virgin for long,” I laughed as we arrived at the Ferris wheel.

I’d never even been close enough to it before to realize that each car on the wheel held more than two people. Reaching into my back pocket, I took out my wallet and pulled out two hundred-dollar bills. When we got to the front of the line, I surreptitiously showed one of the bills to the guy loading the ride. “This hundred is yours if you put us in a car by ourselves.”
