“Fifty, and they seat six each. Hopefully, we can squeeze them all in without it looking overcrowded.” I turn to look at the floor space.

“Well, we can group them together, that way we have a little aisle in between for walking.”

“Need to save some space up front for dancing,” I point out.

He nods. “Well, we’ll just have to see how it looks with all of them, and if there isn’t enough room, we can take some out.”

“We could set some up outside on the patio out back, too.”

“Good idea. The weather is nice, and I don’t think we’re expecting any rain as of now.”

I smile, feeling excited that he said I had a good idea instead of arguing like he does with everything else. I finish my donut and coffee, and a few moments later, I see the moving truck pulling into the parking lot.

“Oh, they’re here,” I say, walking toward the doors and opening them. I kick down the stand to hold them open and Shepard does the same with the other. Jeff, my lead man, exits the truck and walks up to me. “Hey, Des.”

“Hey, Jeff. Go ahead and start bringing everything in. Pop the legs of the tables out and then I’ll move them around and figure out where I want them.”

He nods. “Sounds good.” He turns to give the guys the directions.

With six men, the tables come in quickly, and before I know it, I’m pushing and pulling tables into any spot I can while avoiding the dance floor and making sure to keep enough room between. When I feel like I have the tables where I want them, I start setting up the chairs and putting on the tablecloths and slipcovers. When I push the chair in, I see what Shepard was talking about, and luckily the slipcovers match the tablecloths exactly. I let out a sigh of relief.

“This all looks good,” Shepard says, coming to stand next to me and look out over the floor.

I nod. “Yeah, it’s coming together. It’ll look even better with the place settings and centerpieces. The full-service buffet will be going over there?” I ask, pointing toward the empty wall.

He nods. “Yeah, that’s what I was thinking too. You don’t want to put it next to the bar and have a traffic game. This layout will keep the lines clear and separated.”

I nod just as his phone rings.

He pulls it from his pocket and answers it, his eyes stay busy moving around the room and inspecting everything. “Hello?” he answers. “Yes, I called about the cabin.” He looks at me. “Excuse me,” he says, walking away.

I feel like my eyes nearly bulge out of my head. Did he say cabin? Is he buying a cabin? Here? Is he planning on living here full time or is it a part time thing? Like he just wants to have his own place to stay when he’s in town? I pull my phone out of my pocket and dial my sister.

“Hey, sis,” she answers.

“Guess what.”

“What?”

“My boss asked me out.”

“Shut up!”

I smirk. “I’m serious.”

“What did you say?”

“I told him there was no point, since he doesn’t live here.”

“Well, that makes sense.”

“Yeah, but I just overheard him on the phone. I think he’s buying a cabin.”

Beth giggles. “Seriously? That must have been some impression you left on him.”

“What do I do?”

“What do you mean?”
