When Harrison saw that Jayda was putting her life in danger, he slung the limo down side streets to lose the chopper, but the chopper stayed with them. And when HB attempted to lift up his head to see what was happening, Jayda pushed back down. “Stay down, HB!” she yelled at him as if she was his equal. Or at least his protector. And in that moment she was. HB quickly complied and got his head back down.

As Harrison sped down street after street attempting to shake the chopper, Jayda shot out the driver side window where the chopper had flown to and began shooting at that chopper from that angle.

But when it began flying lower in an effort to get that kill shot on Harrison the way they had done to Desmond and that SUV driver, Jayda waited. She stopped firing. That was when she saw that there were only two men in that chopper: the gunman and the pilot. And as soon as the pilot put that chopper down lower, and she could see that gunman aim his assault rifle ready to fire on Harrison, that was when she started firing onhim with such velocity that she didn’t know if any of her bullets were connecting.

But when she saw the gunman fall out of the chopper, and the helicopter attempt to fly higher to get away from that limo, Jayda kept shooting until that pilot slumped over too.

The chopper went into a spin, and then a tailspin, and then crashed into a concrete barricade on the highway and split into pieces. And Harrison, taking no chances, sped straight to the hospital in case Vincent and Desmond stood a chance.

When they were clean out of harm’s way, HB sat up. And he looked at Jayda. Harrison was already looking at her, too, through the rearview mirror.

And both men were astonished. First at the fact that they got out of there alive given what they were up against. But mainly at the fact that it was because of Jayda’s quick thinking.

She said she was a survivor. She said she knew how to survive. And in that moment both Harrison and HB absolutely believed her.

CHAPTER THIRTY-THREE

On the morning after they were naked in bed at Harrison’s condo and he was deep inside of Jayda. She was on top, he had his big arms wrapped around her, and he was already moaning as he did her. They couldn’t do anything last night. They were still too traumatized and drained. But the next day was different. They had to have a release. They had to dosomething.

And they did it for over an hour. And it was so slow and so heartfelt that they didn’t see how it could ever end. They were at it so long and so hard that they both were filled with sweat. They were at it so long and so hard that they had rolling orgasms unlike they’d ever had before and that came and went and came again as if they were on a rollercoaster of a sensual kind.

But that only heightened their final orgasm. Because when they came, it was as if they had never cum before. They both were moaning and groaning and couldn’t stop the surges their bodies felt even if they wanted to. And they didn’t want to. Because they knew they needed to feel every inch of what they were feeling. It was a true release.

After it was all over, Jayda finally rolled off of Harrison. And they both laid on their backs in pure exhaustion and elation. Vincent and Desmond were hospitalized in critical condition last night, with both having to endure emergency surgeries. But when Harrison phoned the surgeons earlier, both men had weathered the storm last night, remained in recovery, but had an excellent prognosis. They were going to be okay.

But everybody in that back SUV, his father’s security detail, had perished. Felix and all those in his limo were never targeted. Nor were anybody in Carter’s limo. Which made Jayda wonder.

She laid her head on his shoulder and wrapped her arm across his chest. He put his arm around her too. “You know what’s bothering me?”

He was hoping it wasn’t him or his performance. He doubted it, but still. “What’s bothering you?” he asked her.

“Why did they only target your father’s security people and your limousine? I could understand Carter’s limo being untouched since it was in the back of the group. But Felix’s limo was right behind your father’s security detail. How could they not get hit at all? They didn’t have one bullet hole – and I looked!”

Harrison let out a hard exhale. It was taking him longer to come down from that mountain than it took Jayda. He knew it was probably an age thing. He was still breathing heavily, for one thing, and his heart was still pounding. He could hear her heartbeat and it was already back to normal. And when she laid her head on his shoulder and he felt her naked body against his naked body, his penis began throbbing again. Even though he knew he was in no condition for more. But he wanted it.

But he agreed with Jayda. It was very suspicious. “We’ll find out what’s going on,” he said. “Rest assured of that. And who knows it may all be related. But I have my entire security apparatus working on it. Something will be uncovered.”

Jayda didn’t understand. “What may all be related? What all?”

“My hit-and-run, your hit-and-run, and what happened last night.”

Jayda felt as if she had missed an entire conversation. She leaned her head up and looked at Harrison. “What hit-and-run? You were in a hit-and-run accident too?”

Harrison realized he hadn’t even told her about it. “Yes,” he admitted.

Her face could not hide her shock. “When?”

“It was before I even met you. I think it happened a week before my driver splashed you.”

“What happened?”

“This Rav-4 clipped the backside of my sportscar and sent me into a spin.”

Jayda’s large tobacco-brown eyes were staring at him.

“But once I was able to regain control of that steering wheel, I followed that bastard. And I was closing in. That SUV was no match for my car’s speed. But just as I was behind him, a faded-blue cargo van ran out in front of my car as if that shit was planned, and clipped me too. I ended up immobilized and the Rav-4 and the van got away.”

But Harrison could see a change in Jayda’s expression. “What is it?”
