“No, you love everything you put into my mouth,” she said, patting his groin.“This takes much longer, I’ll be asking you to put it in there just for something to pass the time.”

“Uh…” Rourke said, shifting in his seat to shout forward.“If you could take the scenic route—”

“Ignore him,” she said, grabbing his arm to pull him back.“The faster we can get there, the better, sir.”

She hit the button to raise the privacy screen just before her husband coiled an arm around her to pull her back against him.

“Everything’s going good, Babycakes, don’t stress out.Your mom loves her new place.SIT is at the office waiting for you, Hope is taking flight. We had an excellent wedding night. Why are you so tense?”

“Because we just spent the last week shirking our responsibilities, staying up late, making out—”

“I preferred the fucking.”

“No one doubts what you prefer, Mr.Meatstick.”

“Another name for Kintyre to throw in the hopper for the baby,” he said, but she didn’t appreciate the joke.“So what? You want to go back to the making out or it’s taken your momentum? You’re all about the momentum, Babycakes.”

“We need a vacation.Like regular vacations. We’ll get the SIT stuff and Hope under control then it’s you and me on the beach.”

“Pacific or Atlantic?I can give you either.”

“You mean your friends can.Why don’t we have an island? Are we inferior to them?Shit, and you said Dyce was single too, I knew I should’ve met him.”

“That guy will be uncle to our never-come-to-pass kids.”

“The alternative is Zairn, won’t he be an uncle too?”

“As it is, Radley, we do own our own slice of heaven on the Crimson Isle, we ponied up for the Huddle Hut.”

She wrinkled her nose.“Doesn’t exactly sound flashy.”

“How flashy you need?Naked sunbathing does me.”

“Okay, but I’m bringing my pool boy.The vacation can wait until I’ve hired and broken him in.And I want to check out Dyce’s island too. Then I’ll decide if we’re having an affair.”

“Of course. Now where are we on the…”

The car slowed to turn onto a driveway.Aww, their destination.

“Guess oral has to wait,” she said, climbing out of the car to head up the path to the front door.

Lilya and Kintyre welcomed them in with hugs, kisses, and… Knox.

“What are you doing here?”Rourke asked his friend who appeared from the kitchen.

“I thought Jane was in New York.”

“Don’t remind me,” Knox said and shook his friend’s hand in greeting.

It surprised her that he ducked to kiss her cheek, especially given their last conversation.Maybe it was just a façade, their public face in front of others. The guy didn’t like her much.

“Are you having an affair with Knox too?”Rourke asked her.“That how you got him to publish your craziness?”

“I would if he wasn’t so dedicated to Jane.Woman’s got him good.”

“Yes, she does,” Knox said, a frown lowering his brow as his attention drifted toward a muted, wall-mounted TV.

“Does anyone want to—”
