“Is that how it was for you?” Dakota asked, amusement in her tone.

“Fucking right.” His dimples flashed, and my love for his carefree attitude bounced through our bond, deepening his smile—and my own.

I turned my attention to the beautiful woman between us, the precious gift fate had given us. “You’re the rays of morning’s first light. The twinkling of stars in the dark night. I love you with every breath that fills my lungs.”

“I can feel the truth of your words in my heart.” Dakota’s green eyes shimmered with tears, and she reached over to press her fingertips to my lips. “I still don’t know how it’s possible to have two loves, two men, dragonblood I can’t imagine living without. You are my life, Elijah. You and Jon.” She laced her fingers through his, and contentment—to a point—flowed between us.

“What is it you still desire, mon coeur?” I whispered in her ear, fighting a smile.

“I’d like to put that saddle you finished up this morning to use,” she said in a rush, pulling away from me enough to see my face. “I want to ride on your back and glide over the mountains.”

“More like you’re aching to ride me while riding him,” Jon said, and she gasped, jerking her head toward him. “Don’t bother denying it, baby.” He grinned again, his dimples on full display. “You talk in your sleep.”

“I do not,” she breathed.

“You do,” I said, biting back my chuckle. “Always have.”

“Damn.” She blew out a breath and faced the ceiling once more. “So you both know all about that dream I keep having.”

“Hot as fuck, and I’m game,” Jon said, raising an eyebrow my way, “if our alpha doesn’t mind my being strapped to his back while you fuck yourself on my dick.”

I chuckled. “Fucking right.”

Jon snorted on laughter at my word choice.

“Tomorrow, though,” I said, too comfortable to move—even if the thought of Dakota’s cum coating my scales caused my cock to twitch and had my dragon’s claws clicking together in his glee.

Jon’s inner dragon hummed his approval through our bond, and even Dakota let out a shuddering sigh of arousal.

Perhaps they would soon be able to fully communicate with their dragons in the way I did. I hoped they would grow in strength and learn from me, becoming more dragonblood than human. Maybe one day, we would soar the skies together, all our wings extended in complete freedom.

“Do you think it worked?” Dakota whispered, turning her gaze once more to the ceiling.

I slid my hand from Jon’s hip to her belly.

Jon placed his atop mine.

Both of Dakota’s wrapped around ours. “Oh!” She lifted her head and blinked at her stomach. “Oh!” she repeated and glanced between the two of us, her eyes wide. “I—I can feel...”

“Holy fuck.” Wonder laced Jon’s voice. “How the fuck?”

“She’ll have my dark hair,” I said as our daughter’s self-conscious whispered of her existence through the bond. “Green eyes like her mother’s. Jon’s dimples and stubborn chin.”

“She?”

I nodded firmly what my being a royal Blood Born allowed me to see unhindered. “In three months, you’ll see the truth I speak.”

“Three months?” Dakota’s eyes widened further.

Jon’s muttered curse brought a chuckle to my lips.

“Dragonbloods have a much shorter gestation period.”

“Guess we better get busy readying for the little shit.”

Dakota backhanded her husband. “She’s going to be an angel and have you wrapped around her little finger the second her shriek first pierces the air.”

He grimaced but didn’t argue.

I could feel my mates’ pleasure, their absolute joy deep inside my soul.

Warmth radiated from Dakota’s belly up through my hand and beyond, and my vision hazed.

The three of us had found love—and we had created dragonblood life.
