Out of the deep dark

I didn’t know I was hiding in

September Blue

It was always you

I stared at him. September Blue was his goddamn pet name for me in the bedroom. He always called me that in moments of tenderness and quiet after we’d had sex, fucked madly, or made love.

Who knew that first look

was the best look

of my whole life

was the first look

of unearthing me

There was no resistance

the fall was predestined

Right into pools of

deep, bright blue

He sang the chorus again and a pathway opened before me, letting me walk to the edge of the stage. He never took his eyes off me as I moved closer. I wasn’t mad, not even close. I was astounded, and speechless.

I never want to look away

I never want to let you go

I am yours for now

forever and more

Ask me, I’ll give

Tell me, I’ll obey

Love me, I’ll fall

Into you for eternity

He held his hand out for me to lift me up on the stage while Holland, Rand and Ora held the chorus again behind him. I hopped up, taking his hand. My smile was so big I felt like I was going to explode.

September Blue

Who knew that day

this was the way

I’d lose my heart to you

I stared at him as the sounds faded off into the quite room. Maddox gave me a sweet kiss, then turned to the mike next to us. He grabbed my hand with the ring on it and held it up. “I asked Aaron to marry me last week, and he said yes.”

The cheers were deafening, and Maddox swung the guitar behind his back, grabbed me, and dipped me back for a real kiss. “My gorgeous September Blue.”
