Celeste stiffened in my arms. Her back went completely rigid. I stroked her gently to try and calm her. My efforts even more successful than I might have thought. Celeste seeming to melt into my embrace.
“You’re safe, pet. I won’t let anything or anyone hurt you ever again.”
“I know, daddy,” she murmured, her face pressed to my chest as she squeezed me back.
I couldn’t resist the urge to kiss her on the top of the head. Giving her one last squeeze, I took her by the hand and led her from the room and down to the living room.
“It might sound silly but I thought it was my step-dad,” Celeste said.
“Oh, it is but don’t be afraid. I’ve been expecting him.”
Chapter Sixteen - Celeste
I could feel my heart pounding against my chest. An intense fear gripping me like a cold hand. It had been years since I’d talked to my dad, or even really seen him, except at a distance. Despite this, it felt like he was always there. A dark, evil specter haunting my life. Both in my head in terms of flashbacks and in the flesh, ruining every relationship I’d had since escaping him. Tough that was the thing. I never really got away. I have the feeling he would follow me to the ends of the earth if it ever came down to it. He had claimed me as his own and refused to let anyone else have me. Though he hadn’t counter on me meeting Joshua.
It felt a bit strange being out of the room. I had already started to think about it as mine. I hadn’t been in there long really, but long enough for it to feel like home. Especially considering I never left.
“It’s okay, pet,” he said, giving me a kiss on the cheek.
Molly came in to answer the door, but he waved her away. Probably not wanting her to get hurt. Obedient as anything, Molly scurried to safety. Leaving Joshua clear to execute his strategy.
“Come in,” he called, cordial as could be.
It was a quite simple plan really. And foolproof. All Joshua had to do was invite my step-dad in and then count on him to act the way he always acted. It couldn’t have been more perfect.
“You bastard,” my step-dad growled, rushing right for Joshua.
Casual as you please, my master left my side and waked right toward the rampaging psycho.
The haymaker was hard but hit nothing but air. Making a whooshing sound as Joshua leaned back out of the way. My step-dad looked surprised but not so much as on the follow through.
I could hear the sickening crunch as Joshua’s forehead made contact with the dirty bastard’s nose. He followed up with a hard punch to the sternum which made the bane of my existence look like he was going to puke. His eyes actually crossing with the pain. Though not quite so much as when Joshua used the leverage to stomp into the side of his knee. Literally knocking it sideways. Sending the diary bastard to the ward floor.
Before he could even try and get up, Joshua was on him. Sitting on his back and firmly grabbing a handful of his hair, making my step-dad scream in pain. A sound soon silence when Joshua smashed his face into the floor.
“Hi, I’m Celeste’s new boyfriend,” he said, yanking the bastard’s bloodied mug back to where he could hear.
The bastard tried to say something but was unable on account of his destroyed face. I should have felt bad for him but just couldn’t
“I love her and I’m going to take care of her. Unlike what you did. I know what you did to her and saw what you did to her roommate. I didn’t like that.”
Joshua gives the hair a hard twist making the dirty bastard howl in pure, hellish agony. Before giving him two more bashes against the floor, silencing him. I was so shocked by what he said I didn’t really notice the blood-soaked carnage. My master had honestly just said that he loves me and wants to take care of me. My heart started beating even harder. Though in that case with love as opposed to fear.
“I’m not the one who distributed the video of Celeste. I’m as pissed about that as you are, though my methods were a bit more effective. I traced the I.P. to a fuck buddy of her former roommate. He got into my system and pulled the footage to sell on the internet. Except the link goes both ways. I planted child porn on his harddrive and tipped off the feds. They should be showing up at his work in the morning to humiliatingly arrest him in front of everyone he knows. I will do the same to you if we ever hear another word from you. And if you ever go near Celeste again I will snap your neck. If you think that I can’t or I’ll go to prison if I do, keep in mind, I have a blackbelt in Judo, in addition to Muay Thai and am rich enough to buy my own country. It would be pennies to purchase any judge or jury they charge to put me in front of.”
