His dream is coming true.

The odds are in his favor, so he probably doesn’t need me doing a story on him to help. Frankly, it would help me a lot more than it would help him.

And Red Sox Nation will root for the Yankees before I ask Callaghan Entay for help with my career.

For those of you non-sports fans out there, that means never.

I need to stop thinking about him. He’s been on my mind—a lot more than I’d like to admit—since that fateful night when I met Ophelia. But it’s hard.

Especially when I get a message from him every few days.

Usually, it’s nothing important. A ClikClak video or some meme. A reminiscence about college, likewhatever happened to ...

I should take comfort in the fact that he didn’t keep in touch with anyone else either. It wasn’t personal that he blew me off. He was focused.

And it’s paid off.

He’s not only on the National Team but their starting goalkeeper. It was announced this morning. I search out and watch the video footage from the announcement at the Buzzards’ training facility. Callaghan is showing off, blocking shots and diving. On the last dive, he hits particularly hard, bouncing off his shoulder. He seems a little slow to stand, and there’s an unmistakable look of pain on his face. The video cuts away.

Maybe it was a stinger.

He’s probably fine.

His adrenaline is so high, he probably didn’t feel a thing. He’s got to be elated. I should make a ClikClak about this announcement. Or at least send him a message. We never exchanged numbers so we’re in each other’s DMs on ClikClak.

Me: Congrats!

I shouldn’t expect a reply right away, but I’m sort of surprised when the message goes unread. Unanswered.

Okay then. The minute he gets a better offer, he forgets about everyone from his past.

Apparently, nothing’s changed with Callaghan Entay.

And I doubt it ever will.
