Heaven.
My mouth found hers. “Me too, babe,” I said as I thrust my tongue in her mouth in time to our strokes. Resting on one elbow, I slid a hand between us and circled her clit with a finger. Faster, and faster, until she was there.
Her body clenched mine as she arched back, my name on her lips. I grunted, trying to race there with her as we crossed that line together, sensations swirling as my body melded to hers. I groaned into her neck as we shuddered together, riding out the end of our orgasms. Feeling completely wrung out, I collapsed and rolled us to our sides to keep my weight off her.
“No, I want you on top of me,” she whispered, pulling me back up. “I love the feel of your weight on me,” she said, wiggling below me.
“The baby.” I started to move to the side.
“The baby is fine,” she said into my neck. Kissing that spot I found irresistible, she went on. “Your weight makes me feel safe.”
I pulled back, looking her in the eyes. My hands combed through her hair. “You’re safe, Maggie. You’re always safe with me.” I leaned down, lightly kissing her lips before moving back up and watching her face. “You good?”
Maggie’s eyes roamed over my face. “That was amazing. Of course I’m good.” She looked to the side, then back to me. “I think it was good because it was you, but it had been a while too.” Her cheeks heated. “I mean, there was the time with you, but no one for a while before.”
I nodded, wondering how long and could I kill anyone who’d come before me? Not really, but maybe. That being said, this was Mags, and she was putting herself out there, which demanded equal vulnerability. “There’s been no one else for me for quite a while either, Mags.”
“Define a while, Cole.” She watched me, and I could see the look of jealousy flashing over her face. I’d take that—it showed she cared—but there was no need. There was no one for me but her.
My lips found her neck, and I pressed a kiss there before showing her my cards. “Almost a year.”
Her eyes flew open, and she met my gaze.“A year?”
“Yep.” I moved to bring my face over hers. I let my lips light over her nose, lightly kissed each eye, then finally came to her mouth. I kissed her softly, then pulled back. “As I said, I thought I wouldn’t have given you anything, but I wanted to be sure.”
We locked eyes, lost in the moment, before she pulled back from my gaze to kiss my neck. Maggie nipped my neck, then grinned at me. “Well, you did give me a little something.”
“That I did,” I whispered, dropping my head to her neck. I felt Maggie’s hand slide down until it found mine, and she interlaced our fingers.
“What are you thinking?” I asked when I heard both our phones begin to vibrate at the same time. Looking over to the pile of our clothes, then back to Maggie. “Well, whoever that is at least didn’t interrupt us until after,” I grinned. “Do you want me to get your phone?”
“Not really. I really want to lie under you like this forever.” She smiled at me while I rocked a bit on top of her. “However, if both our phones are vibrating at the same time, I need to know everyone is okay, so yeah, I guess.” She wrapped her arms around me, not making it easy to get up to get the phones.
“I’m not going far, babe.”
“Conceited much?” she asked as I rolled off the bed. I quickly moved across the room to my jeans where I pulled out both our phones. I looked down at mine and smiled before tossing Maggie hers.
“What?” she asked before looking down. I watched her face fill with worry.
“Read your text. I’m guessing you got what I did.” When she didn’t look down immediately, I added, “It’s good news, don’t worry.”
She looked down and woke up the lock screen, opening the group text from my sister to the two of us. It consisted of a photo of her hand with a diamond ring on it that said, “I said yes!”
“Holy shit, holy shit, holy shit!” Maggie looked at me. “Max and Emma are engaged!”
“Looks that way.” I grinned, settling back in the bed next to her.
She looked down at the picture again, and I realized she was blinking back tears but not fast enough as some spilled onto her cheeks.
“Hey, hey, Maggie, what’s wrong?” I asked, wiping away her tears as I pulled her to straddle my lap in the bed.
“They’re engaged,” she said softly. “I mean, I gave Max ring suggestions weeks ago, but…” her voice trailed off, “they’re getting married.”
