What was he talking about? Better yet, what was his younger self talking about? She asked as much, too, not understanding.

“I’m not sure, but I think you might be in heat,” he whispered, as though it were some great secret. “My inner dragon is...more desperate than it should be.”

She knew it was her younger self’s thoughts in her mind when she wondered what he meant. Yet, for all her curiosity and maybe even trepidation, she also feared him stopping. That after being kept apart this way for far too long, he might not go on. She could feel his growing hesitation. His worry for her.

“No,” she groaned. She might be nervous, but she wanted this too much. Had to have it.Him. All of him. Finally feel him inside of her. So the next time he rubbed against her, she steered him where she wanted before he could stop her.

“Hell,” he groaned, nowhere near strong enough to stop himself once he started sinking those first few inches.

In control of her limbs enough that she could finally move, she wrapped her legs around his waist and urged him on. Where there had been no pain before, this time there was when he eased forward slowly. She finally felt what it was like to lose her virginity because, between his ample size and her reflexive tension, there was an initial sting.

One he took away when he muttered he couldn’t stop if he tried and kissed her. Kissed her until she once again melted and relaxed. Once that happened, she about died at how good it felt. Every nerve ending sprang to life as he filled her. Every little bit of sensitive flesh.

He kept an arm around her lower back and white-knuckled the ledge with the other. His features twisted in bliss as he fought to take things slowly but lost himself in the feel of her. She more than understood. When they slept with each other the first time yesterday, it had been outstanding, mind-blowing, but this was something so much more intense.

So much more passionate when he kissed her again and began moving.

After that, they were both lost, and any thought of her being in heat and potential consequences were out the window. Vanished in such exquisite eroticism that nothing could have stopped them. Nothing could have freed them from moving together. Racing toward a pinnacle felt by their human halves but controlled by their inner dragons.

It felt so amazing, she could plummet to her death for all she cared. In, out, over, and over. Their bodies slick with sweat. Their hearts beat in tandem. She had no idea where she ended, and he began.

Thunder cracked. Lightning splintered across the sky. The wind picked up, swirling around them, pushing them closer. Fueling the fire. Theirs wasn’t just sex but sinful lovemaking. Instinctual and natural yet taboo and risky. Becoming pregnant now, here, would be bad. It would make her far too vulnerable to the enemy if she worried over carrying a child. Worried when she suspected she might be the key to winning this war.

“Tor,” she moaned, holding him tighter, moving faster, gone in the pinnacle they drove toward. The immense emotions wrapped up in it. So said the intensifying weather. The raging storm. This time it wasn’t determined to destroy him but to intensify his motions.

Drive him on.

Rally his cause.

A cause that became a maelstrom of energy that either came from them or the storm. An explosive power that wrapped around them, driving them on so intensely that they didn’t stand a chance when release slammed into them. It felt like an erotic freight train hit her, and everything combusted.

While she swore for a moment they literally went up in flames, she realized she was just catapulting into a grand seizure type orgasm. One that made her release an animalistic roar of pleasure when he locked up inside her. A roar made not just of her human half but her dragon. Of beast and euphoria and coming together in a way they had never thought possible.

At first, she didn’t understand what made it so through-the-roof incredible until she did.

“It...we...”

That’s all she got out, all she could manage as he pulled her down into the water.

“Ja,” he whispered into the crook of her neck, his breathing ragged, his heart still slamming. “It seems you have forgiven me entirely.”

“I have,” she whispered back, reveling in the confirmation that they had just become mates. Not fated mates. That would require the Forge. But mates for at least one life. “Ihaveforgiven you entirely for Revna...and I’m not sure why.”

Or maybe she was.

Truth be told, once she experienced what her tiny dragon had gone through in Destiny and Leviathan’s Forge, when she remembered how it had felt to touch Revna, Tor, and Cian’s souls afterward, she couldn’t imaginenotforgiving Tor. Because whatever happened, all three would only ever do her bidding as she would theirs.

They werethatclose.Thatconnected now.

She understood if she had possessed Revna, Tor would have been helpless against it. If she had asked Revna if she could possess her, the seer would be helpless against it. They all did for each other. Were a part of one another. Truly, she could only be grateful Revna hadn’t let things get too far with Tor. She hadn’t given in to the draw that would have come naturally.

“So youdoknow why you forgave me,” he murmured, peppering kisses down her neck, revving her up yet again. “And that made all the difference.”

“It did.” She let her head fall back. Gave him better access. “I’m just sorry I did something like that, to begin with. I must have been desperate.”

No doubt, considering what she had just experienced. How he could make her feel. It was wondrous. Intoxicating. Honestly, she would possess a thousand seers to get back to him. To feel his lips against hers again. She was about to tell him as much, too, when she opened her eyes, and something caught her attention.

Something that made absolutely no sense.
