“That we know of,” he countered. “Perhaps I did, but we were forced to forget it like everything else. Maybe you designed it so I could only share so much.” He arched a brow at her. “You were the one who suggested you and your sisters move into the Maine chalet in the first place, so your magic or even inner dragon was working toward something. In control of so much more than you realized.”

“True,” she murmured.

Even though they continued talking about him after that, he tried to focus more on her. What life had been like in the future. And it about broke his heart. He could only be grateful that she’d haunted him, Cian, and Revna. That there had been a break from the life her negative energy had forced her to live in the twenty-first century. From not being able to be with men to spending more time than not holed up. Away from people, being protected by her sisters. It sounded like an unfortunate upbringing. A truly sad one.

“It wasn’t all bad,” she said. “Even though I was pretty damn moody or depressed half the time, I enjoyed spending time with my sisters and aunt. They’re good friends.” She offered him a small smile. “And now we know life wasn’t that bad all the way around if I was traveling back here. Spending time with you.”

“Yet even that could be difficult,” he murmured, thinking about the dark, oppressive shadow that had followed them. Which made him realize what Raven had remembered over the past few hours. “Youdidknow it was Mórrígan.”

“Yes,” she confessed softly. “I figured it out, or should I say remembered everything, a few months before she solidified me but didn’t want you to know. Didn’t want it to ruin our friendship.” She sighed and shook her head. “Things are coming back to me. How Mórrígan followed my spirit here and hid herself from Norse seers and dragons alike via my Vanaheim magic so she could spy at will.”

While it was good she was recalling things, there were still so many questions. How deep had she been in with Mórrígan? Had she promised her anything? While some might worry this was all some big set-up and Raven was against him, he knew better. She was incapable of aligning herself with that monster. She might have done what she had to do to save those closest to her, but she would put the many before the few.

Humanity before her sisters and soul mates.

“I’m glad you have so much faith in me.” She was back to straddling him again because, like him, despite her best efforts, her body craved more of his. “It means more than you know.”

Taking the cue she was done talking for now, he stroked her, determined to bring her pleasure. Free her mind from any more worries. Yet instead of taking the pleasure he offered, she gave some of her own when she wrapped her mouth around his cock. After that trying to help her emotionally or physically became impossible. All he could do wasfeel. All night, every moment, everything about her, until they must have dozed off. So said the urgency of her whisper when he jolted awake.

Were they under attack?

Was Mórrígan here?

Had the war come to them so swiftly?

“No,” Raven whispered so softly, and so carefully he barely caught it. “But something else has.”

Chapter Twenty-Three

“DO YOU SEE it?”Raven continued telepathically when Tor stirred awake.“Tell me you see it.”

Having clearly sensed the awe in her voice, he blinked and remained perfectly still.

“If you’re talking about the tiny ethereal dragon standing on my chest looking at us,”he replied,“ja, I see it.”

Though hard to make out its colors just yet, its bright, inquisitive eyes came through clearly as it cocked its head at them.
