"Not like I have anything better to do."
"Let us know if anything changes."
Aldrich nodded, and Jared took a last look at his brother before leaving the room.
"He'll be fine," Silas promised as they stepped out into the corridor again, squeezing his hand and sending a jolt of warmth through Jared.
Rationally, Jared knew that Silas was right. His brother was in a good place now and he was being taken care of. But still... "I almost want to go back in and offer him my blood."
"Not today." Silas started walking, half-dragging Jared down the hall. "We're not having a repeat of last night."
Who knew the vampire could be so bossy? In spite of everything, Jared felt a small smile tuck at the corner of his lips. "Tomorrow then?" he asked.
"Maybe," Silas allowed, then stopped. "What are we doing now?"
"I'm going to do what I should have done a long time ago," Jared announced, pulling Silas close and placing a kiss on his forehead. "I'm going to take you home."
Silas beamed.
