The gargoyle shrugs, but I can practically feel the mischief pouring off of him. “With the sway I have over Henrietta, I can’t imagine it would be difficult to transfer Delores to Capital Prep, and secure the rest of us positions on staff or in nearby facilities. All one would have to do is point out howdamagingit would be if word got out about how easy it is to access the tunnels. It sure would be unfortunate if the wealthy donors of this academy discovered the security of their investment was so easy to breach. Appearances are everything to Henny… not to mention she doesn’t want to be eaten by the angry parents of bratty heirs.”

The smile on Delores’ gorgeous face soothes the ache in my chest. “I like that plan a lot, Rennie. The Council has some explaining to do, as does Lucille... " Her expression falters for a moment before she shakes her head, rainbow hair rippling as she squares her shoulders. “I amdeterminedto get to the bottom of this, and I know, with you guys at my back—allfiveof you—we can accomplish anything.”

That’s my girl.

I rub my hands together, feeling more hopeful than I have in a long time, despite the circumstances. “Sounds like we’re moving to the Capital. All that’s left to do is the paperwork... " I allow my gaze to pointedly drift to our resident archivist.

Aubrey groans. “For Bast’s sake, Cassius, do you have any idea of themountainof paperwork this will involve? Not only transferring the lunchable’s transcripts, but securing you allteachingpositions at one of the most prestigious universities in this country? And what about me? One doesn’t simply waltz into the Clawbrary of Congress and demand an archivist appointment. It’s unheard of! First, I’ll have to see if Betsy can reach out to... "

I smile as I tune out the lizard’s moaning. Aubrey is on a roll, but I know, deep down, he’s in his element, already making plans. I also know Renard will pull all the necessary strings—and issue any mild threats—needed to get us where we need to be.

Together.

As a pack.

“We’ll all be together again soon,” Delores sighs happily as she snuggles into my arms, and again, I remind my neglected dick thatnow isn’t the time.

“That’s right, baby,” I reply, kissing the top of her head. She sounds so sure of herself, so convinced that everything will work out, I can’t help but believe it’s true.

Washington, D.C. better get ready for us.

After the mountain of paperwork, that is.
