“Of course,” I said.

“Promise me you’ll do what you can to get me back in.”

“You know I will.”

“And promise me you’ll never marry Pike and will never do anything sexual with him.”

“I promise.”

With Alé gone, I knew Pike would make it his mission to win me over. That was going to be a hard promise to keep.

The door crashed open and the security team surrounded the bed. Alé was one of them so they weren’t violent or anything like that. They just stood with their guns aimed at the floor and ordered him to get up from the bed. He was still naked

so they allowed him to get dressed.

I cried through the whole ordeal and I remember begging them not to take him but they only repeated phrases like, “It’s rule number one, my Dove,” and, “No man can strike another.”

Alejandro was taken from me that night and as I think back to how it all went down, I remember every detail of the fight and every feeling of the sex but for the life of me I can’t remember if I ever told Alé that I loved him.

I’m sure I did.

I mean who wouldn’t? Right? Right?

I must’ve told him.

But I’m not sure that I did. And it hurts every time I think about it.

If you think that’s the end of the story, you’re way off. It’s only the beginning. This is just the introduction to the Daughters of Venus and how our small town went from a thriving community full of love, happiness, and devotion to left over fragments, shattered pieces of the paradise it once was.

I learned a lot of lessons through it all but that night, the night Alé was taken from me, taught me that the problem with having three husbands is sometimes you kinda want four…and sometimes you end up with two.

The End.
