I gather all the clothes, placing our omega’s at the top, before jogging up next to Killian and Tristan. The cave isn’t far from here.
While we’re all eager to get our girl home, we agreed it would be safer to travel with her during the day. The last thing we need is for someone to jump us while exhausted from walking all night.
Tristan ducks his head as he enters the cave first, followed by Killian. He holds our omega close as he makes his way down the steep incline. Tristan found this place on our way to the Morder. We dropped all our supplies off before walking the rest of the way. Honestly, it was an excellent idea.
The ceiling dips and I duck, before making it into the spacious cavern. The inside isn’t tall enough for Tristan to stand at full height, but Killian and I can.
Stepping around my pack alpha, I move to the small lantern in the center of the cave. It casts an orange light, making the shadows flicker and pulse. I find our bags, eager to charge my phone. We brought four power banks just in case.
“You did a good job,” Killian says to Tristan as he looks at the pallet of blankets. They’re spread out over the flattest part of the ground with a pair of little socks in the center. Jeremy insisted we bring wool socks for our new mate. He said omegas’ feet get cold and he didn’t trust the Morder to give her good socks. Turns out, he was right.
“Tired?” Killian looks over at Tristan. The big alpha is already lying down on the blankets, ready to fall asleep fully clothed.
“Yup?” Tristan lets out a sleepy sigh as he clasps his hands together and rests them on his chest.
The alpha is a creature of habit. He goes to sleep at the same time every day, wakes up at exactly six AM even without an alarm clock, and the man has eaten the same damn breakfast every day since I met him—a ham sandwich. So bizarre.
“Help me out before you drift off,” Killian says, and Tristan’s eyes snap back open.
“Whatcha need?” he asks through a mighty yawn.
“Keep her warm.” Killian places our omega next to him. Her eyes squeeze tight, almost as if scared to open them. “Her clothes?” Killian turns to me.
I hand over the oversized white T-shirt. Killian slips it over her head. Her eyes peek open, but she keeps her head down, staring at her lap.
“What’s your name, sweetheart?” Killian asks.
But she doesn’t answer.
I know she can speak. Hell, she even managed to yell “stop” when we were washing her, but maybe she can’t speak well? Or maybe she’s too scared. That would make sense.
“That’s okay.” Killian cups her cheek, forcing her to look at his face. “You don’t have to tell us right now.” His thumb caresses her cheekbone, moving over a sizable bruise around her eye. Her whole body is covered in the damn things. Her face, her hips, her knees, even her wrists.
Someone beat the hell out of this girl, and I’d love nothing more than to spend a few minutes with them to return the favor.
“Go to sleep, little one.” Killian kisses her forehead, before guiding her to lie against Tristan’s side.
The big alpha wraps one arm around her, forcing her to rest her head against his chest. Her whole body is tense, clearly scared. But I have a feeling she won’t be awake for long. The poor girl is exhausted.
“It’s okay, omega,” I purr as I grab the pair of blue socks. The rumbling sensation is foreign but good. It’s not something I’m used to doing. Purrs are made to soothe omegas, and our pack consists of only alphas and one beta. “Close those pretty eyes, omega.” I put the socks on one by one. Jeremy was right—her toes are like ice.
Once the sweet girl is settled, and Tristan is snoring, I walk back to our stuff and pull my phone out of my pants pocket. The screen flashes and Jeremy’s name shines up at me.
I can’t help but smile at his sweet message.
I hope everything is going okay.
Stay safe. I <3 you x3.
It’s something he says all the time. “I love you times three.” It’s his way of saying that he loves all three of us, no matter who he’s talking to. I love it.
We made it to the cave.
Jeremy immediately responds.
Is she doing okay?
Has she started talking yet?
